Thanks, Rozzie. I've been running off and on since April. (right now really on) I did WW and hit a wall. I've been pushing myself with running. I do enjoy it. Although, I feel the same way about dieting anymore. I would like to find something that suits me and that will still give me energy for the longer runs.
And yes, I did watch some of the Olympics marathon...They are incredibly fast! I will be lucky to finish in 6 hours! They are amazing!
And Nono, I'm so sorry for what you are going through with your dad. It's hard watching someone you love get to that point. You are in my thoughts!

nono....so sorry to hear your dad isn't doing well. If you need anything just remember that I'm not that far away.

I watched my dad with his frustration of not being able to golf and just be able to get around for a few years. He had a bad heart and there wasn't anything that they could do for him. When my parents moved to Fla. he would go and golf everyday and he made sure that he could walk the course. He hated it when they made everyone use carts.
Roz....Hope everything is going well with your mom's visit.
CB.....Glad to hear that you are feeling a little better. Don't push it because you'll just be starting the recovery all over again. When do you get your stitches out?

Thanks everyone for your thoughts!
I got my 7 miles in tonight! Whew! I run on a Monday through Sunday schedule, so it was now or never tonight.
Babysitter and I did some seriously fast spurts of running, pretending like we were in the Olympics -- tourists must have thought we were seriously deranged. Had a blast!

SO sorry about your dad. Thinking of you.
Jen - Welcome! I'll be doing the full in January too! 8 miles that often is great. If oyu stick around, you'll realize tht I tend to be VERY cautious. You know your body, but that much 5 to 6 times a week scares me. That's a lot of strain you put on yourself. You don't want to be injured come January. DO you have a plan. I highly recommend John BInham's MArathoning for Mortals. As for diet, my best plan is to log calories in and calories burned. I use Diet adn Exercise Assistan on my Palm. Ther is a version for PCs too. I think Sparkpeople.com also has a prgram to do that for free. Just becomming aware of what I put in and what I burn does me a world of good.
I'd love to meet in January again. Friday night is liekly best for me. Does that work for anyone else? Ghiardelli's again?

A Friday night meet would be GREAT as long as those of us doing the 1/2 can get home and to bed early enough.
Last year the timing was perfect. I was too keyed up to sleep much anyway. I shot out of the bed like a rocket when the phone rang for the wakeup call. I think I was a weeee bit nervous. lol
Nono - you are in my thoughts.

Went out and did 3 1/2 miles this morning. I actually did a little running along with my walking. Started out with a nice breeze that went away halfway though my walk.
Got a question for you seasoned runners. What time of day do you prefer to run? I wish I had a choice, but with working second shift the evening hours are out for me.
Nono, are the new shoes still feeling good?

Shoes are still good. They are now fully in my rotation after doing 7 in them last night. So, in addition to running barefoot, I have 4 shoes in active rotation. (makes me run more as I need to get my money's worth!!!). I absolutely preferred to run in the morning the first couple years I ran. I would "gut out" other runs at other times. Then in the last year, I started running after the kids went to bed with our babysitter or with the dog when Mr Nono was out of town and babysitter was, well babysitting for me.
Otherwise, I'd have gotten no run in. It opened up a whole new world. Now I run in the afternoon, and all sorts of times when it used to bother me, and I don't even notice.
I think for me, everything is a process. Running has become so intrinsic to my being at this point, that it has become "natural." If for now you find you can't do certain times of day, I say that's cool. Maybe in a couple years, it will be different.
Oh and ROZZIE, I forgot to comment on your salt question. I think it is wise to be aware of that. I mostly get the black cherry and cola versions of the clif shot blocks...and then get Mr Nono to make me a big ol' margarita a few times a week with lots of sea salt the night before a run. Find it works well.

Gail, I love to run first thing in the morning, about 0530. Unfortunately, I am about to leave for work at that time (gotta clock in at 0615) and can't do mornings. So I usually either run right after work (3pmish) or later in the day, around 6pmish. But by far, 0530 is my favorite. Sun coming up, no traffic and a breeze off the bay. Though weekends I am usually late and not up and moving till' about 0800.
Scott got up with me this morning and ran with me. I was so stoked to have him! I only had to do 25 minutes, so I thought it would be a great time for him to go. He got winded once and had to walk and being the great supportive wife I am told him to walk circles and I'm meet back with him in 10 minutes.
I hope he starts going with me, he's been doing some C25K some on the TM, but my prayer is that he gets bit with the running bug outdoors.
Speaking of outdoors, does anyone feel that running outdoors is easier than on the TM? Not saying outdoors is easy, but maybe I don't get as bored, I don't know, but my pace is a lot better outside. Weird, I always thought the TM would be easier.
