Knee & now hip have been bothering me. I did run a little today and thought of you all -- hence my post. Took the boys to the batting cages at the HS today and after I threw several hundred pitches, I ran the football field barefoot -- 30 times. Seemed to be easier on my joints but I ended up with a major blister on one of my feet.

    Hope you all are well.

Headed to US in less than 4 weeks, then a week at WDW at BLT, then 5 nights on the Dream. Can't wait!
John, I was wondering where you were! How have you been?

Thanks Beth -- doing generally well. Gained about 10 lbs, but body fat % has decreased, so I guess the workouts have done what they were supposed to do. Getting old isn't fun. Right hip and knee let me know that they aren't happy with me no matter what -- even swimming hurts. Oh well. Thinking about trying a chiropractor, but too cheap .

    How have you all been?

That could be helpful for some people, but on a personal note I don't thin it will do me much good...

I hope you love the new shoes CN!

    Congrats on the ressie Mat!

Welcome back JRB! If barefoot felt better aside form the blisters, have you thought about trying an uber-minimalist "shoe" like Vibram 5 fingers? I don't have experience with them, but I'm pretty sure nono has in addition to sometimes running barefoot... I've been crazy busy lately at work, but getting back on track with exercise. Unfortunately those two are leaving me zonked so I'm falling behind here, BUT I'm trying to get it all back together. I hope we can both be regulars again!!!

    Thanks -- me too!

Thought about you recently too -- been doing some swimming as my cardio.

Been thinking about going minimal, but a little nervous. Today was my first time to go barefoot. Really nice blister on my left foot . Oh well.

    Hi y'all,

Question. Who has aching knees and how do you deal with them? I had a doc tell me my bod may not handle this running. Not sure I should listen lol

my left knee aches when I increase my mileage or run for a continued amount of distance than usual. The first time I experienced knee aches was when I ran 6 miles for the first time but I had never ran any distance longer than 3 miles so that was a big extension of my distance. I started feeling some knee aches at like mile 4.5-5, after I stopped running the ache got worse and it felt from behind the knee cap, the ache went away after 2 days of icing . The other day I ran 7.31 miles and got some knee aches which I iced immediately after showering from getting home after the run and by the next morning the pain was gone.

Not sure if that helps at all or describes your same situation.

Oh... Another thing that works for me too is really good stretching maybe after 2 miles of running and then after the run.

Tell us more. When does it hurt? During? If so, what happens if you stop running and walk a block or two? After? All the time? Sometimes?
