...and another 2.5 mil' miles are on the books. Also did 1 set of free weights, but took my "windmills" (can't really figure out what to really call them; they are a mix of two shoulder rotation exercises from my physical therapist) slow and easy since my right shoulder got a bit painful Thursday from them and continued bothering me on and off. So much so that I actually skipped weights altogether Friday as a precaution. But now I think I know where the problem was and it is something that my PT says is good for the shoulder in the long run, so I'll just try and cautiously push through it.

Welcome to another work week! On the plus side, at least it is a short one for some (many? most?) of us.

Disney half beware you are on my list and I'm going to get you.

Love it! I did my first 6 miles ever yesterday - ouch! lol

But I was proud and DEF feel like I am "coming after" that half! Psyched and can't wait!!!

Yeah walking for the rest of yesterday was fun. I felt like House. But today I'm good and ready to run some more.

Just a bit of advice from someone who is good at getting hurt during long runs...if you are sore right after a long runnow you are probably running too fast. Long runs are meant to be really slow, especially when you are building mileage.

Thanks for the tip CN. I'll have to keep that in mind for future long runs.

Ok - I have been letting myself wallow in my own self-pity and being all eeyore-like recently. About work, about running, about everything. And it is time to snap out of it! Kick myself in the butt! More Avenger / Black Widow, less Eeyore (perhaps minus the skin-tight black outfit, doesn't really work in a professional setting...)

Congrats to all of you who have done new distances recently in your long runs! Maturod - can't wait to meet you at Branford and see how you kick that 5 mile race in the a**

I clicked through one of DG's signature links and if I'm recalling correctly, I saw a post (earlier in this thread) where Rozzie is talking about just having run a 6.5 mile run and how she's amazed that she ran that far...I couldn't believe it - this thread only started in 2008 sometime and, of course, I think of Rozzie as a running queen, so I am amazed and impressed by how quickly you ascended your throne!

I need to keep my eye on the goal, stop whining, accept my current reality, and fight on.

Thanks for the congrats and we're with ya on the "time to kick out the blues" attitude. That's how it's done!

So encouraged about what you wrote about Rozzie. Just starting this process for the first time, I wonder if this will be my only half or if I'll get addicted !!

    Only time will tell!!!

Well, I would pull back a bit with the bolded part. My 2 cents is that very slow running for too long can be damaging too. I agree with your advice though for dialing it back. If we're talking gears and one is a 4 speed, I'd say that 2nd gear is a good place to be for long runs. 1st gear is where one should be for recovery runs, which typically are short and very slow. As always, your mileage may vary. Ha! At least you have mileage.

I'm not cracking double digits yet.
