Great seeing many of you this morning and looking forward to seein g even more of you at dinner!
I wanted to jot down my mile splits so I can reset my watch; was tracking intervals (while I felt up to doing them- details can be told in person and/or I may post later) on my Garmin. It was telling me Low Battery around mile 22 or so; I actually was plesantly surprised it finished the race. Happier that I did, but that goes without saying, right?
Per my stopwatch, start of running first wave to me getting to the first timing matt= 13:19.64
Mile & split:
The last 0.2 took me a bit under 3:11.59. My grand total "gun time" was 6:31:10.

Relatively Short Version: Downed a Cliff Shot gel at mile 5 as planned. Mile 8 (TTC parking lot) I had to stop at a port-o-let. During those 4 minutes of not really moving everything started to seize up on me (left ITB @ knee & hip, side stich, and lower GI cramps & gas issues). NOT GOOD. I tried to extend some wlak intervals and recover but things were only getting worse so around mile 12 and backstage from Frontierland water station I started walking. And except for a stop to stretch a little ways after that and then again to take a picture of the Jungle Parade Peacock near the end I walked through to mile 26.15 or so. Then I dug deep and ran accross the finish line of my first full Marathon! Those first few steps I tried to switch back to a run I nearly went down; right calf was tight enough I almost couldn't land and keep my footing.
Luckily, perhaps by sheer willpower, I found it, stayed upright, and although MUCH slower than I originally hoped I completed a full marathon and got my Mickey medal.
Back at BLT now and wondering if I'll be able to get my shoes back on and/or stand up from this chair. Also very glad I bought "The Stick" at the Expo yesterday, and counting blisters. Not too many actually and no blood (so far). Toe nails even still attached and none black. Hopefully none of that cahanges!

nono, are you saying I should try and hide any distinguising markings so your family won't realize I'm a Peacock when going through that area? Maybe my V 2.0 shirt will be enough...

ain our room to watch Wishes and try and sleep. I think this tent is before walking to the corrals and therefore pretty close to the monorail station, or at least I hope it is!
I think I'm going to set an alarm for 2:45 AM and try and be at the monorail stop in CR as close to 3:20 AM as I can.
See everyone soon and Gooooooooo Peacocks!

Great work DG! Way to gut it out and finish.

Thanks cyl!
I did make it to MK after dinner and rode Dumbo & BTMRR one last time before they go down for refurb tomorrow. First regular attractions (as opposed to shows) I've done this trip!
I'm not planning to set an alarm for tomorrow and wake up whenever. Other than dinner ADR & Illuminations I don't have anyhting really pressing to do tomorrow...

I really hate I missed BTMRR before the rehab.
I can't second guess anything I did this week to prep me for the race yesterday. I truly believe by me taking it super easy, least time and walking on my foot as possible, and the 2,341 epsom salt/ice therapy combos is what made yesterday possible. I'll be back in Sept for ToT and will ride it a few times to make up for it.
Just wanted to give everyone a special congrats. I know I hugged all your necks and said those words but wanted to take a minute and tell every single one of you that you are all so special to me. I think looking at our group we are a perfect group. We all so different and coming from all different directions, yet together we create a team that is second to none. I think variety is the secret to our success. I admire every single one of you. If you catch up with me today in WS, I will probably get sappy there too!
Woke up very emotional today. I went to bed Sat night thinking I was probably not going to make it past POLY and/or a very loooong day in pain. Neither those things happened and it truly was a moment in time I won't forget. I think every race we do we learn something about ourself. I learned that some days it is not about your finish time but the journey that counts. What obstacles did you overcome? How did you manage your doubts? How do you deal with reality now? While it was not a A+ time for me, I still feel like a winner because I had the courage to start. No matter if we PRd, finished, not finished, this journey is not over. There will be highs, there will be lows. The important thing is we continue with the journey knowing while there will be bad race days ahead (any given Sunday!!), but there will also be moments that take our breath away. No matter where my journey takes me next, it is comforting to know I have all you by my side. I think that is the defining spirit of our group to me.
Long live Team Peacock!
Now on to World Showcase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well said, Roz...Just wanted to wish Team Peacock congratulations
I still consider myself a peacock at heart, even though I've not done anything to deserve the moniker
You should all be very proud of yourselves..I hope no one is in too much pain this morn.
Go have some fun in the parks now!

Roz- Reading your post just started getting me choked up again. I love everyone on our Team as well and think that all the "Many differents birds" make us a MUCH better team!!! Diversity lets us better help & encourage each other IMHO.
A- Good to see you & your heart is in the right place!
As for pain, mine is manigable. That said, downhills (most recently embodied by TTC monorail exit ramp) are a b!tch today! I think the people on the bench waiting for bus glanced at me a little funny a few times while I was stretching... Anyway, I've seen a number of people limping around worse than me. Granted many of them are wearing Goofy medals, but it still comforts me in a sick demented way, much as enjoying the full actually during it despite or maybe even because of pushing through the pain!
Looking forward, I'm not sure if I'll be a single full was enough type (although that does sound appealing right now!
Even my dad told me yesterday that everyone feels they'll never do another right after the race; really supportive for him!) but I absolutely am feeling motivated to work on my half and shoot for a PR @ the DL. <After some serious recovery time of course; even I'm not THAT crazy!
> But finishing & doing the Coast to Coast will still make me happy, especially if the temps are unfavorably high as SoCal may be at the tail of summer!
I'm on the bus to DHS now; need a Star Tours fix & we'll see what else... E is still sleeping AFAIK- she doesn't metabolize Pixie Dust for energy at the rates I do!
Later gang! .wave:
