Nope, I dont have asthma....And no, the pain was off and on since I first got it Sunday....I think I got the pain because of being out in the cold originally...I did 6+ miles last Saturday in 22 degrees w/bitter wind, and the pains started the next day....They are a lot better today....Today I was scheduled for 7+ miles but I didnt want to risk it...I was able to 4.7 thoughThen I got a blister on one toe and a cut on the other one

The Rocket City is looking better and better. I am certainly not looking to BQ. I would like some day to run the NYC marathon (though I understand that is a lottery process to be able to do so), I have no inclination at this point to do Boston.
Well, my first round of job-supplication letters are finally in the mail! We'll see what comes of them.Sophia: “The race was underway. I start off slow. I’m cagey, like a panther, but when the time is right I pounce! The crowd is on its feet: ‘Sophia! Sophia!’ I could see the finish line; it was only 200-300 yds away. And then, it happened—what every runner dreads. I hit the wall.”
Dorothy: “Ah, ma, you ran out of steam?”
Sophia: “No, I actually hit a wall. They put up a new Wendy’s on Collins Ave.”

Thanks for everyone's well-wishes. I'm not sure how soon to expect to hear back, since I'm basically sending unsolicited CVs (but I didn't want to go through one of those head-hunter agencies, and this route was suggested to me). I want to send out several more letters.
Well, and I have some more good news! I ran a total of 3 miles today--and 0.75 of them were outside!
What a gift. Then I took another 10 minute ice bath. (Should I be worried that after a few minutes it starts to feel warm?
)
I've decided it's better if I run until I have weakness, as the pain goes away when I slow down, but the weakness doesn't. The pain is sort of not a good scale, since I can have a dull ache even when I'm not running, say, after I've stood a long while.
athenna--do you use moleskin? It works wonders on blisters. I got horrible ones during the RFTT, slapped moleskin on just about every toe, and was able to walk around WDW for a week without any pain. And great work with your training (believe me, I understand the frustration of set-backs). I can't wait to see you at the race!
jigger--haha on the cones
(I'm sure it would be even funnier if I were on the inside of that joke, though CB's race report was pretty funny). Congrats on signing up for the race!
Lisa--Huntsville is only a couple of hours from Nashvegas, too (which is part of the race's appeal). Although I like to plan these things out, I am open to several races in the fall, and the appeal of possibly getting together with a Peacock or two would very easily sway me, if anyone has any plans for a marathon around that time. . .
(Since this will be my first, I could use any sort of support--though according to the reviews, the fans are supposed to be great for the Rocket City. I saw pics of Piggly Wiggly cheering on the runners.)

Rick found a couple of excellent 2010 Disney Half and Full Marathon videos on Youtube done by a guy going Goofy
He did a great job and thought y'all might like to see them too:
