Ladies, I guarantee you what you do is much harder than what I do. Hence, why I don't want to do it!

I'm telling you - walking 4 with Gail almost put me O-U-T. I could have run 7-10 mi and not felt that bad... I swear it's a dirty little secret that the elites try to keep to themselves: running faster is much easier.

The hard part is training to get faster. Esp. if your lungs aren't ready. I think that's been my big change this year...my lungs are really in shape now, and the body simply can follow.

I know what nono's saying. It's ahrder to go for a longer time adn when your muscles are not used to walking or intervals, that is tough too.

Got a story to go with this from last night.

DH and I were on teh indoor track. After a bit, a guy starts running. The man is all muscle and blows by us like we were standing still. ALways makes my pride take a dive. Yes, I am faster than a few of you here, have finished 3 full marathons adn I still let that stuff get to me. Anyway, he stops and starts walking with his wife. As we pass he calls out, "Aren't you guys ever gonna' stop?" We were blown away. the man was 10x's faster than us, but impressed by our time out there. You know what? We were only doing a 40 min run. Basically, teh shortest distance we go.

So, you know what? All of you have done more than that and this Mr. Muscles would have been as impressed by all of you as I am. DOn't think it's easy, just because you're slow.

I did realize this. Sadly, for me, my lung capacity is stronger than my body and joints are. I swear I could keep going and maybe go faster but everything begins to hurt. That 12 mile mark on my last LR really took its toll. I hope my 16 miler is better. I do believe I still have room to grow my fitness though: I just have to grow it in smaller increments

Sorry nono....should have walked my normal faster pace, but that still wouldn't have helped you. I'm just waiting for my lungs to be ready because my body has been fine so far. And now it is going to take a bit longer because of this coughing crap. I was going to try and get out today but I slept forever this morning. Well, it seemed like forever anyway. I sue do hate being sick.

I know where you are coming from. I think I'm at least 2 years out from building enough base to run a marathon, and even then, I don't know that I'll do it. I'm targeting an 18 mile race next Sept/Oct and see how that goes. It might be too soon for me to try it, and I'm mentally willing to drop it from my calendar if the training is going poorly.

    This is all kinda weird.

I can't see that it would be a good idea for them to cancel the party because of all the money they have collected already from the registrations for the race. It would be a lot of aggrevaton on their part to have to refund the money and a lot of unhappy people who were looking forward to the party.

Here is the new official Disney site for the weekend. They no longer have anything about the race course on here, but they do mention tickets for a post-race Party. They are not calling it the P&PP anymore. So looks like they are having a party still but we just don't know the theme.
