cyl- You are a much better athelete than me so take my thoughts for what they're worth! I only know one person who trained with that many 20 milers; my dad. I don't recommend it if you are injury prone; he did over 100 miles every week including a 20 every Sunday (either training on its own or by adding on a training run after a race if it was short of a full). Sure he was fast, but now he's had 5 knee surgeries (or is it 6 finally? At least 2 on each leg...) and wears neoprene support sleeves 12 hours a day + takes narcotic pain killers most if not every day. Sure he still runs 1 or more hours almost every day (and is way faster than me ), but I personally question if it is worth it. Then again living in his shadow (and my track + cross country star little brother) have long been a MASSIVE demon for me, so you really need to factor that in. All that said, I certainly don't want to hold anyone back so if your body is up to it then GO FOR IT!!!

nono- Nice swim times! I hope your running gets worked out and you don't end up dead...

Diz- I hope the cold has cleared up. I think your question on 800s & pacing (magic mile) has been answered.

Roz- Are you doing any better? Sorry you are having a rough patch, but you'll come back to what you love & need when your body is ready. For more recoveries, look at Gallaway coming back from his broken hip. Run/walk intervals for a while might work for you... I guess I could also flip my dad over here from the opposite perspective- DESPITE everything he still runs and loves running so he keeps going no matter what. Whatever your current status and DNS or not: GET WELL SOON!

And that gets me semi-caught up I think.

    'Night all!

welcome back DG! I think we are the only ones headed to DL.

I ran a 5k PR this past weekend, but it wasn't nearly as fast as I would have liked. I ran slower than recent training paces (I've been training to hit an 8.15 paced 5k, my actual race pace was more like 8.30) for a total time of 26.28. Just gives me something else to fight for next time! My right quad still seems a little off, and I was having some pain in my old injury on the abdcutor from this past march, so I went and saw the ART doc yesterday. I should have had him work both legs over, not just the left one!

Nice to see you DG! I sure you will do DL with ease. Once you get the and the excitement really helps pep you along.

I wish I was going to DL! I am always a year behind the cool kids. My virtual training partner from GA is going and it's her blast out goal race.

I survived the 5K tuesday. Hip felt awful funny in warmup but I talked my hip into coorperating just for a short while. A new PR, my first in 2 years. I will be honest there was a time I kind of took PRs for granted. This one was enjoyed and savored a little bit more coming from a PR drought. Especially since I got it on a HOT as HADES August night (HI over 100). I will be glad when the temps start cooling some. I do enjoy the weight loss that comes with melting into a pool of sweat however. It always seems harder to take off weight in the winter. Sweating must have something to do with it!

I think I might start training some with some faster girls than me from the LRS. They always have intimidated me but think I might gain something by running with them. (I am also a introvert and have trouble in groups with girls, group of guys I am fine, go figure..) Also a local CC/Track coach has invited me to her speedwork sessions. Jury still out on that. Talk about the turtle and the hare.

Other big news, we are sponsoring a local TRI club. They are putting on a C25K from our restaurant on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Think it is great for the community. I will probably start doing some doubles and meeting with them for some easy mileage. It is so much fun to run with a big group of people.

Beth, can you go back and get other leg worked on?

Roz and CN - congrats on the PRs!!!

Totally awesome - especially given the heat that you both had to deal with!

DG - nope, we're not heading to DL - wish we were! I thought about it briefly when you and CN said you were going, but it just didn't work for us. Have a great time - tell us all about Carsland!

We are not currently planning on doing it - but I've learned with this group to never say never as I seem to keep getting convinced to do things I hadn't been planning on (like last years EEC and some people keep talking about goofy in 2014...).
