A little marathon humor for everyone this morning.
Off to run my 2 miles with sprints shortly. I'm ready to PR tomorrow! I think my quads have finally recovered from last weekend...guess that teaches me to push the pace so much on my LRs!

Only if I can find one that uses all one speed bikes (beach cruisers...)
The lifeguards here had a modified tri -- rowing in the ocean replaces the bike portion. I'm a long way from that...
Didn't go running this morning. Leg is in pain, but I really do believe it's in the right direction. I will run on the TM later. Gotta get to surf camp. Olympics are killing me. I woke up, looked in the mirror, and saw what I'll look like at 85!

CN - LMAO! that is pretty funny.
I have to admit to someone and it has to be all of you since I feel horrible! I got a cold and haven't been able to run this entire week as I can barely even breath through my nose.
By the way according to the Jeff Galloway program for time improvement for the w&d it says that tomorrow I am supposed to run 4x800, at what pace am I supposed to run those 800's (800 meters?!!!) I am confused about that as I have no way at counting that unless I can do it with my garmin watch. if anyone can help me please let me know.

You are doing time improvement for your first half?
The easiest way to run 800s is to go to a track. Run two laps, hard. Then take a rest period (I do two minutes easy jogging). Then repeat. The pace isn't as important as having a hard workout. I think Galloway plans normally figure out your pace by doing magic mile exercises.Beth--I love weather so much, they call me the cloudnut :-D

Good advice, I agree on the 800s.
I might be retiring with nono. Everytime my training is kicking arse something happens. Now it's my knee, weird swelling and pain thing. Doesn't feel under knee cap, or ITB, or anything I can pinpoint. What's even stranger I have a eerie calm about it. Usually I freak out, but I am just calm. Deep down inside it might be a stronger force preparing me for not a quick recovery. Also it helps to read about another elite in this month's Running Times (I love so much more than Runners World) about road back from injuries. She had to sit out for 7 months and then came back stronger than she was before. Deena did it too. And Kara, and Meb, Shalane, and Davilla will come back from her hip. I think injuries are just a part of training. I am almost resolved to it.
As for my 5k Tuesday night I have been looking forward to for several months, most likely a DNS now. Wish for once I had not preregistered! Ugh.

Thanks for the suggestion, now I just need to find a track. Lol
I thought that I should do the time improvement as I have already ran 10miles and on the to finish in the upright position it hasnt even gotten close to that yet. Figured since ive ran longer distances than the to finish in upright position I would do the time improvement.
What do you all think good idea or too much for my first half?
I hope you don't really have to quit, but if you do hopw we can still meet each other in the future.

Roz - I am so sorry to hear about your knee. Although I'm glad to hear you taking it in stride. You *will* come back stronger.
Sorry about the DNS too.
This weekend's races are really looking kinda sucky. 80/80 - 80 degrees 80% humidity. Feels like a sauna outside - you know, when the air itself feels sticky.
These are going to be brutal.
Not setting any goals b/c I don't want to end up disappointed.

Uhhh, to quote Monty Python: "I am not dead yet!"

The streak still lives; I think I'm in the 90-day range now. Saturday I knocked out my longest run since the Mickey; 5.1 miles outside, within less than 20 minutes I hopped on the 'mill and did another 8 miles. Ergo: 13.1 miles all completed in less than sweep time for the DL half!!!
Great confidence builder since life has continued to be nutty & crazy busy for me lately.
I honestly do want & plan to get back to being a regular. Real work & side work might be settling back to sane levels soon [I hope]. I need need need to get a Disney fix; Disneyland at the end of the month can't come soon enough!
I hope everyone is doing well & we'll chat soon.

Yousa! I just printed my registration and I'm # 3207 - meaning Corral B????? Good thing I did 2 min run to 1 min walk intervals on the mill today for the bulk of 3.2 miles... Now if I just double that running time and quadruple the distance I'll be back to where I was for the Air Force Half! Uhhhhh- I'm not sure that is possible though with less than a month to go. Back of the corral it will be for this Geek methinks...
If I'm feeling good my goal is 9 min / mile run pace for 1 minute then <17mm walk for 1 min, lather rinse repeat. Should average sub-13. Not a PR by a long shot but on anything over 7 miles I've been over 12 min. avg. pace lately so I think it is a realistic target. We'll see over the next few weeks if I can push that a bit; maybe 1.5 min to 1 min. isn't out of the questions...

Doh, almost forgot:
Congrats on corral A CN!!!!
Very nice on Walk in Walt's Footsteps. I did that on my BD trip 2 years ago; it was awesome going into the lobby of Club 33!
A few days ago I booked Fantasmic! Premium Viewing for the 9 PM show on Labor Day. That way we won't have to fight the crowd for a spot and can should be able to stay seated for the 9:30 fireworks. Might not be the best angle, but orders of magnitude better than missing them in the stampede of people exiting post the show. Yeah, total ripoff at $60 per person but suckers like me pay it so Disney will keep charging it I guess...
So besides you, Noel, E & myself are any other Peacocks going to be @ DL for the Half?
