Not unrelated to a particular problem like iliotibial band syndrome, or the like. This is different, and it's PAINFUL. Here and there, not all the time. I'm up to 2 miles at a shot now, and it's starting to happen less frequently. No one has knees like me, so I wouldn't suggest generalizing from me!

Being with all the talk of injury and safe running in this thread as of late I want to put out a question that I've been mulling over for a week or so. I've been thinking about doing both the 5k and the half marathon at marathon weekend. Is this something I should consider doing, has anyone on here done this and does disney allow this to occur? Thanks for any input you fine running folks may have.

Ha! Sure they do. There are even some people who do "Dopey". 5K, Half and Full. MM on this thread did a Goofy light 2 years ago, where she did the 5K and the Half Marathon, she named it "Max". (Goofy's son) . I was going to go Dopey when I did Goofy--until I found out the 5Ks are not timed. There is no way I am getting out of bed at 0330, spending $$$ for a non timed fun event. That is just me though, plenty of people do add on the 5K to the weekend events.

I like that the "Max". Valid point at not really wanting to get up at 330 for a non timed event.

    I've given up on notification!

Oh, and for folks who want another title to add to their reading list , here's one I ran across last night: The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance. Authors look well-credentialed*. Not ordering until I'm down to 15 books....

*I think they are part of the New Atkins group too.

I am almost done with my Inca book (less than 20 pages)...I ....can...do....it... Then I will buy some of these diet/nutrition books.

5 mile race this Sunday (did a 5 mile easy run today as part of the "taper" as I had been following the end of a 10k training plan). Will get to meet Maturod1!

    Goal:
    Platinum 38:20
    Gold 39:10
    Silver 40

I know - there's not much time between those goals - but it is only a 5 miler. That's basically 7:40 pace, 7:50 pace, and 8:00 pace. Last year I ran it in 8:16s. So I should be happy with 8s - but I wouldn't be

Weather is looking pretty good. I have my "magic" compression shorts
"Carb" loaded today by emotionally eating a pack of cheez-its in the afternoon
Little afraid to lay my goals out there - always hard to say it out loud in case you don't hit them.

Goooo Cyl-e! No worries, we've all been there. If you blow up on course, so be it. The sun will still rise the next day. And, if it doesn't, then it really doesn't matter.

Look forward to seeing you there on sunday.

I think if I were to set any goals or anything 55 would be my "absolutely should be able to do it" time. Personally I want to hit 50 which I think I have a chance
of hitting. 48 Would probably be my absolute tops and anything quicker would be awesome.
