Interesting. For years, as we've driven up and down I-95 to HHI, we've seen this area along the Potomac grow and grow and grow and always wondered what the atttraction was. Sure it's right near DC and on the river, but what else? There isn't a direct train link into DC (yet) and driving into DC can be difficult at best. There's a water taxi to Alexandria, but then what. And National Harbor developments have been under serious pressure from the Sierra Club for dumping sewerage into the Potomac, (but what development doesn't dump into local waterways, right?). And it's not like you can swim in that part of the river (i.e. beachfront) Boating? for a few months, maybe, but that waterway is not for the uninitiated day-boater.

This will be interesting to see what they create there and how they fold in the DC experience.

If there were convenient access by train or similar to DC's museums and monuments I'd certainly be interested in going at least once!

There are hundreds of Goofys running around DC, and we send there there every few years.

This must be for their idea for a new Gangsta Rapp'rs and Thugs attraction. Backing Ft Washington and a short hop from Anacostia, I don't even go in those areas unless I'm carrying, family friendly....I don't think so......there is a reason Baretta has a gun factory right down the road from there. There is a waste facility on the other side of the river, if the wind is right you'll need a gas mask to walk around. Nothing will be convenient, if they do have ground transpo into DC it will have to go thru Anacostia or over the new Woodrow Wilson bridge and up thru VA. Either way I hope they issue flak jackets for all passengers. The Potomac River is the sewer of DC and as much as the politicians are full of it, you can imagine what the river is like.

If only Eisner had followed through with plans to build a park in Northern Virginia...

I lived across the river from this location for a few years (in southern Alexandria/Ft Belvoir area) and agree it's an odd move for the Disney Co. I can see ABD linkage and the draw of visit to the nation's capital. But I can't see owning a timeshare in this location, so I doubt DVC will be a part of the development. Disney Collection, maybe.

I was just at National Harbor last June. I stayed at the Gaylord National Harbor and the area was beautiful. It is really the only place in the DC area that I think a DVC/Resort property would work. We had a meeting near the capitol and leaving the hotel at 9:30am it only took about 20 min to get there. (I'm sure it's worse at rush hour, but when on vacation, who get's up that early). There were several nice restaurants there including a McCormick & Shmidt. The whole area is right on the Patomic with Alexandria just across the river. There was a heck of alot of construction going on at the time. I think when the whole thing is finished, it will be quite a place. THe Gaylord (part of the complex) was beautiful and had a 4 acre atrium (similar to the one in Orlando, except with a Colonial Theme)
