The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that a Florida bill impacting the tax status of timeshare accommodations is moving forward. The bill--designed to exempt timeshare trades and incentive stays from normal hospitality taxes imposed by state and local governments--passed the House Finance & Tax Council by a vote of 14-0.

That's correct. It's just an affirmation of the status quo. Trades and incentive stays were historically never taxed, although one FL county unsuccessfully tried to do so. That's why they are looking to formally address this.
The other part of the legislation says that timeshare rooms booked at cash prices (like Disney selling rooms at OKW, SSR) WILL be taxed. But again this is just the way most have been doing business all along...including Disney.
