Hi - i'm going to call MS tomorrow to try to get some answers but would welcome your input on the whole issue of points transfers.
Today i completed my first transfer from another member -- the points reallocation required another ten points.
The points that were transferred in were feb 2010 use year and i am going to use them to complete my march 2010 reservation.
Here are my questions -
i have two homes under my membership. BCV and BWV. i bought these through resale. Does that mean i can do a transfer on each one?
Also, since my transfer from today was for 2010 use year, am i still eligible to do a transfer for 2009?
Linda

If you have two separate contracts (different contract numbers), then you should be able to do one transfer per year on each. The downside is that if you ever want to combine points from the two for a single reservation, that can only be done via transfer. In other words, if you want to use 12 BCV points and 13 BWV points to book a room that costs 25 pts, you need to transfer.
That's a good one to ask MS but I was was always under the impression that the transfer limits were per calendar year, not Use Year. Also, since my transfer from today was for 2010 use year, am i still eligible to do a transfer for 2009?
Let us know what you find out!

I'm curious as to whether it's use year or calnedar year too!
Tim - Is it only a transfer if you are combining points fr 1 night. Say, I wanted to use poitns from 2 sepearte contracts, would I use COntract A fro X nights adn COntract B for Y nights and it'd be more like 2 ressies that they linked or would a transferbe involved there? Wow, never thought I was goign to be blessed with needing ot knwo these things.

If you can book whole nights under each of your contracts, there is no need for transfers.
If you want to book 5 nights at 25 pts per night, and have 50 points available in one contract and 75 in the other, then you just book the nights accordingly and have the reservations linked. No need for a transfer.
But if you have separate master contracts and need to combine the points for a single night, the only way to do it is a transfer.
Carrie: Since your contract is still in process, I would discuss this with your broker. I have heard that you can request up-front that DVC can link a new resale contract purchase to your existing holdings when it is first recorded in their system. If they set up your new contract as a sub-contract to the one you already own, then you do NOT need to transfer in order to combine the points. But again this MUST be done when the change of ownership is recorded. I don't know if there are other relevant details (Use Year, Home resort, etc.) which may keep this from happening every time. So see if your broker can tell you more.

Thanks Tim! That makes sense.
My broker told me that they can only link if it is the same UY. My current is August and new one will be Sept. Seemless for my pruposes of tracking, but not enough to link. No biggie, though. Keeping full days per contract should not be a big dea. (Famous las words.

Just to make sure I understand, if I buy an add-on through DVC directly and it has the same Use Year (August) as my original purchase, I can use points from both contracts (even 5 from one and 10 from the other in a single night) WITHOUT doing a transfer, correct? I think direct from Disney add-on purchases are automatically "linked" together, right? Naturally that would be @ <= 7 months since I plan for the add-on to be a different home resort...
