We'll be staying in a 2BR lockoff end of May/early June.

I have never made a room request at any resort before but my father and my in laws (first trip)will be joining us. While I know I can't assure them a perfect vacation, I'd like to do what I can to make sure it's not a disaster.

A lake view sounds nice, but from what I understand it's all pretty much woods view with perhaps a glimpse of the lake. I've read lots about the loooonnnggg hallways... it can't possibly be as long as the BWV hallways can it? The old timers are all in good health so the walking is not really a big issue but we would like something convenient to either Roaring Forks, Pool, or Boat. I guess our biggest "want" is a nice view as my father and FIL will spend the majority of time on the balcony.

Any suggestions on what to ask for?

If you request and get Lake View, it will avoid the dreaded dumpster view. Or you may want to request near the elevator.

There are some good pool views, but you are correct, mostly woods. Probably a glimpse of lake, but nothing you could call "lake view".

The view opposite of the lake would include trees as well as the covered walkway to the bus stop.

About the only bad view - and even that isn't THAT bad - would be the DUMPSTER VIEWS at the end of the hallway. Best way to avoid that view is to request it when you book your stay.

Asking for a room near the elevator will put everyone the closest to Roaring Forks and the main pool. But I've never been near the elevator, so I don't know what view you'll get.

You can check out DVCNews roomfinder database to give you an idea of an area to request. Dont forget that all requests are not guaranteed though.

We had this view in a dedicated 2BR. It was still nice, even though it looked in the general direction of the parking lot. From our balcony, we had a nice side view of the main lodge.

Dorothy: “Ah, ma, you ran out of steam?”

Sophia: “No, I actually hit a wall. They put up a new Wendy’s on Collins Ave.”

Same with our trip here this past summer. You can barely see the bus stop as the there are enough trees to block it all out. Now granted we didn't go on the balcony much with with TS Fay staying with us for 4 of our 8 days!

Sorry to bump my old thread.

We just returned from the VWL and it's my new favorite resort. We stayed in rooms 4533 & 4535 which I believe were the first 2 lake view rooms down the long hallway. That room location was very convenient. Thanks for all the advice.

How about a balcony picture for the data base?
