Grrr.....accidentally hit submit. "Yes that's why we have ordinances.". Can the police arrest you on private property? I sound like such a witch but I only reply like this to stupid and mean people. It is darn hard to make your point and keep your game face on, even over the phone, with someone chanting " Go Carrie" in the background. :-P

*yawn* needing a wake up break and came in to find nothing - and found ....NOTHING!
Were is everyone? Carrie is out celebrating birthday stuff I am sure. What about everyone else?
I have been putting the finishing touches on the trip for Richard and I which starts Thursday week. Yippie! We are going to the dark side for a couple of days, doing laser tag, a trampoline place, Wonderworks and their dinner show one night and then Legoland one other day. It is going to be a lot of fun. He picked AKL so looking forward to staying there as well.
I guess I will have to go find some coffee and get the blood pumping!
Good Tuesday everyone!

Back from HHI.
Another glorious trip. We all really do love that place.
It's interesting, though, to think about how our trips have changed over time. In the early years, starting from our first trip in Aug 2000, until about 2009, we were occupied with small kids and the resort's daily activities calendar. We were forever making our day to day plans based on things for the kids to do. This was lots of fun and gave us great opportunities to meet other families and interact with the Cast.
The past few years see us doing it all so differently. The kids are teens and simply not interested in the daily activities. Basically the four of us just want to veg on the beach, or by the pool/hot tub. DS and I spend hours fishing and the girls read, or shop, or take long bike rides. It's awesome down time.
We're not that involved with the recreation staff any more, but we do know the long time, "adult" employees and the department managers fairly well now. We look forward to seeing them and spending time catching up. This trip we actually skipped both campfires, and only spent a short time at the evening pool party and the mid-day pool games event.
And we still love it. It's nice how the resort seems to grow with you. Our teens still prefer it to WDW. On the car trip home, we discussed plans for next summer, with DW and I pushing for WDW but the kids being insistent on going back to HHI. DS said he'll only go to WDW if we stay in BCV, otherwise he does not want to go.
Anyway, we're back, school starts eventually, summer is ending slowly, and I can't wait to go back to HHI.

Laura - lol, no big celebrations here. However, my workplace honored my bday with an iPad. Ok, it was coincidence, but a nice one.
Stitch - Sounds wonderful! So glad the HHI has grown with your family. Live that you and sw get such great quality time with the kids. You must get back t o WDW soon, though.
Vacation.....need one badly.

Stitch - I keep thinking that there will be vacations of downtime and it will be amazing! I also know I will miss the hustle and bustle as well. I very much miss beach vacations but since Charlie was a baby, it really was just sooooo much effort and energy to take them to the beach. I can see how HHI would appeal with small children because of the activities. Keeping them entertained at the beach can be a challenge as our definition of "beach" isn't typical. It is more of an isolated island theme.
We gave the beach vacation thing a whirl this summer after dad bought a condo in Panama City. It is on the quiet end of Thomas Drive and was very nice. We took the kids for 5 days because I wasn't sure how they would do. We really didn't do much that was geared towards tourist and had a great time. I was afraid they wouldn't like it or they would drive me nuts to entertain them, but they didn't so we will start going for full weeks when we can. It is nice that it is within 5 hours to get there, so it will be a good weekend place (if we ever get our weekends back).
It is very interesting to see how life changes as they grow. A little sad and yet always an adventure!
We have been having adventures here since last week. Richard...my dear sweet Richard who is very accident prone....slid across a wood bench at school last Wednesday and got a huge splinter in his tushy. It had to be cut out (it was over an inch long) with 5 stitches. We watched the area closely and he developed a red and "hot" area about an inch up from the original splinter. Took him in on Friday and they x-rayed it and said nothing was showing. Over the weekend, it stayed red and warm and you could feel a hard spot on either end (about an inch long). Took him back on Monday and the doc agreed. If you pushed down on one side, the other side went up. You could feel what seemed to be another inch plus splinter. It seemed very much like something was there. Well....a nice size cut (11 stitches to close it) and they couldn't find it. I am very much convinced that there is something there but it could just be some strange reaction. So now, Frankentushy is all stitched up and we are hoping that there really isn't anything there. He and I head to Orlando a week from tomorrow so I am really hoping that whatever it is goes away and doesn't need more attention. I feel so guilty that we had them try to get something out that appears to not have been there, but they thought it was there too.
Mommy angst.
And now....a hurricane??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO The only good thing is maybe it will change some plans for Labor Day weekend and make the parks less busy. We certainly aren't going to change our plans and will hope for the best.
