There are years when it takes me so long to get mine down that hubby asks if it is a Valentine's tree....I think next time I get asked, I will say that it is for Thanksgiving - just getting it done early this year.

Update -- two trees are up...we're letting them "stand" a bit before decorating. (They are fake, there's not going to "fall out" and look natural).

Nice thing is there's plenty of room to decorate. We're going to start today. Whoo hoo!

I have a fake tree, but had it long before I moved here. I now have a 2nd one, but only use one at a time. I bought the skinny one last year so it could fit in my small LR - now I don't live there....

last year was Cedric's 1st year with the tree, so I had all non-breakables on it. This year I want to try an tip I got from Melodie (the personalization artist friend of mine from DDOC who passed away suddenly in August) - mothballs. Aparently they act as a deterant. I have my yankee Candle jars ready for that pine scent...

I do have a couple of small 1 1/2 - 2 ' trees that I use at my desk, or when I go home for christmas and don't up the big one up.

And this year, i finally had the opportunity to do a ceramic one. I have been waiting 40 years for this! I can't get a few of the pegs in the holes, but once i get it situated, I'll post a photo. I anticipate starting the holiday decorating next Friday, as I am off and Mom will have gone back home (she's coming down Saturday and it's cold here...)

I put up my smaller tree on Sunday, as I had wrapped presents that needed to go somewhere. The purpose of the smaller tree was to display all the ornaments I collected that I didn't want to put on my themed tree. Turns out I didn't buy as many Disney ornaments as I thought. I need to get crackin'! I had to fill in with OLD ornaments (we're talking some from probably before I was born) and ones collected from 1980s Happy Meals (you know, Prancer, the Cinderella mice, Sebastian from the Little Mermaid, a Pound Puppy, etc).

My larger tree takes a bit longer to put up.
Sophia: “The race was underway. I start off slow. I’m cagey, like a panther, but when the time is right I pounce! The crowd is on its feet: ‘Sophia! Sophia!’ I could see the finish line; it was only 200-300 yds away. And then, it happened—what every runner dreads. I hit the wall.”

Dorothy: “Ah, ma, you ran out of steam?”

Sophia: “No, I actually hit a wall. They put up a new Wendy’s on Collins Ave.”

We do 1 tree - it's now fake, but this is only our 3rd year of fake tree...
Kids hate the fake thing - but really, in the panhandle of FL, there are no "fun" places to get a tree. In other states, like South Dakota, CA, and New Mexico, we bought $10 permits from the Forestry Dept and went out in the woods to cut a tree down.
Anyway - no theme. Just a bunch of stuff we've collected over the years. There are a lot of Disney ornaments in the mix, though.
We do a few small decorations in the house (the mantle over the fireplace and stockings for one), but really don't do as much as I grew up with. My mom used to go all out! I just don't have the time before or after!

Hmmm...nothing quite as fun as decorating a new place, huh? We have a little Ohio State tree that stays out all year. We have a 9-foot tree that goes in the living room (fake one, due to woodburner). Colored lights--kids and DH love them. Ornaments from all over the place, including some that were from my parents and some from DH's grandparents. When DH's grandparents passed away, there were so many special ornaments there. My mom bought a tree that was already decorated, so I took all of her old ornaments. Some were from her and dad's first Xmas together. I also have ornaments that our girls made, and I love them all. Plenty o' room on that tall tree!
I love decorating for Xmas, but I don't like taking it down. I do try to take the tree down right after New Year's.
