Anyone else captured by this teaser on mousesavers.com like I was?:

If you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World in the first half of 2009, watch this space for a HUGE deal! I expect this exciting new offer will be released at 5:00 pm Eastern on Thursday, November 6.

(Sorry it's in red, that's the way she posted it on her site)

Ooh, can't wait! Hope it's something good!

Sophia: “The race was underway. I start off slow. I’m cagey, like a panther, but when the time is right I pounce! The crowd is on its feet: ‘Sophia! Sophia!’ I could see the finish line; it was only 200-300 yds away. And then, it happened—what every runner dreads. I hit the wall.”

Dorothy: “Ah, ma, you ran out of steam?”

Sophia: “No, I actually hit a wall. They put up a new Wendy’s on Collins Ave.”

I noticed the annoucement and wondered about it too MM. For the most part I have not been able to avail of the special deals Mousesavers announces. Usually the deals are for rooms, which I don't need as a DVC member, or for park tickets, which I don't need as I have an AP. I can't imagine what would be posted that I could actually use, but I hope for the sake of others it's a great deal that they can use.

I have not yet built up a huge cache of points, so I have been scouring the mousesavers front page for any Disneyland deals. I think I'm going to stop off for a few days after a conference in May. I thought about going to DLR for my B-day in August, but it's just too expensive to stay in a resort (either points or cash). So I'm looking at going to WDW and staying at a Value (if AP deals are going on during that time, I could easily stay for 3 or 4 nights at a value for the same price as a standard room at the Disneyland Hotel)! It doesn't sound like whatever this news is will effect either of those trips, but it still sounds like it could fun, and tempting to add another cash room stay!

Well, Mousesavers has annouced a great package deal (yes, it has to be a package with room and park passes):

Great deal - 7 nights for the price of 4 at Walt Disney World resorts between January 4 and June 27! Plus, if you travel between January 4 and March 29, get a $200 Disney Gift Card. Click here for full details. Although this offer was released late in the day, Small World Vacations agents can book this package for you tonight!

(Note to moderators--this thread would probably better fit on the miscellanous boards--sorry )

I'm still hoping for a discount at Disneyland. I wish the above deal didn't have to be a package. I know there will probably be room-only discounts released closer to dates.

Wow, when is THAT week? Sign me up!

Seriously, though, I don't think you'll see any major changes in crowds. In recent years the resorts have been running above 90% occupancy. Even if this promotion pushes them to 100% occupancy for periods when it would normally be lower, that's maybe 10,000 guests spread over 4 parks.

And the main reason Disney makes offers like this is because they know the parks will otherwise be hurting. The goal of this incentive is to maintain attendance, not to grow.

They ran the 7-for-4 offers for several years after 9/11 and crowds were still small. If people don't have the money, they don't have the money.

Thanks Tim, I never thought of it that way. I know it will be busy, but was hoping it wasn't like a packed to the gills sort of thing. You made me feel better.
