We cannot wait for this DVC resort to open. We have stayed at \"The Grand\" as we like to call it, on numerous occasions. The location cannot be beat with its own enterance to DCA, and a 5 minute walk to Disneyland. It is also right next to Downtown Disney. The most amazing thing about this place is even though it is right in the middle of the action, and also in the middle of a Metro Area with 9 million people it is very relaxing and quite. There are several courtyards and hidden places that take you to another place and time. This is the only Disneyland Resort that feels \"Disney\" to me. It is also the only one there to have been built by Disney, (go figure). I recommend that anyone who is making their first pilgrimage to Disneyland stay at this resort. You will not be dissapointed.

I am making careful choices as I build our new house so I have money left over to buy DVC points at GCV! LOVE LOVE LOVE Disneyland! And, yep, I like DCA. Love Downtown Disney and the fact that I DON\'T HAVE TO RIDE A STINKIN\' BUS ONCE!!! Plus, SoCal weather is about perfection.

I agree with all your comments except one David. I really think the Disneyland Hotel has the Disney feeling to it as well. I love the photos of Walt and Mickey in the lobby and all the Mickeys, both hidden and otherwise throughout the resort. It\'s my favorite DL resort.

I hope that I don\'t have to buy points to stay at the GCV once they become available. I like Disneyland a lot, but not enough to spend the higher airfare it would take to get me there as opposed to WDW. I would LOVE to be able to go every few years using my current points at the 7 month window--but somehow I doubt that\'s going to be easy (unless they eventually increase the # of villas available to DVC folks).

I see where you are comming from Mar. I should probably clarify this. I think there is a Disney feel at The Disneyland Hotel, but the theaming of the building is non-Disney. The grounds are beautiful. We love Goofy\'s Kitchen and the Neverland pool, the buildings just look like any highrise built during the 70\'s. Then again I am one who does not think the Contemporary is very \"Disney\" either. (for the same reasons) I guess I am a traditionalist.

Ahhh I get it now, and I totally see your point and agree with you regarding the outside of both the DLH and CR.

You are right about the weather. We live in inland So Cal, and it is very hot here during the day in summer. We will buy there to get away from the heat for a week in August every year. This is a nice option for us as summer at WDW is way worse weather wise than even we face in our desert climate. (At least we have low humidity). If you like a summer with dry warm days, and cool nights, the Grand California Villas is the place to buy.

My one and only visit to Disneyland was way back in December,1967. To say the least, I am very much looking forward to returning there, this time with my wife and boys. I am waiting for the DVC villas to open; just hope we won\'t have too much trouble getting one after the first year or so.

I am WAAAAY too excited about the GCV- I just can\'t wait for it to open! And I agree that the GCV will be the jewel in the DVC crown- what more could you want from a resort?

I will be staying at GCH next moth and look forward to it. I am staying there using my points, as i would not spend the cash to well, pay cash. The discounts there are just not as good as they are here in WDW, for me anyway. I have stayed at the Disneyland Hotel twice and enjoyed it very much. I also stayed at the Disneyland Pacific back in 1998. Now the name has changed and I am sure the inside has as well, but still a nice hotel.

I\'ll be sure to put a review when I return.
