Can this be made a "Sticky" thread on the Most Recent so it doesn't get lost?

Thank you. It was a relief when the nearby river crested and began a decent towards normal, although it will another day before it is below flood stage. Our community has been great with large numbers of folks volunteering and helping those with flooded homes removing items that are wet and even the damaged sheetrock, carpet or wood flooring so mold won't form in the house. Then when our community was done they moved to the community next door which had many homes flooded. I cannot even imagine how parts of Houston will recover. I think it will take years.

How did downtown Houston fare? Specifically the Convention Center. I have a conference there next September and am just curious if it got hurt.

The George R. Brown convention center was used for evacuees. I don't know if they have closed that center yet. At one point there were 9,000 people living there. It was set up for 5,000. It did not flood at all. Unless another hurricane or tropical storm comes through next year you should be fine.
