Default Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs Enhancements Confirmed

Disney has confirmed plans to expand facilities at both Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney's Coronodo Springs Resort, but (so far) no mention of Disney Vacation Club villas at either.

I've been dipping my toe in the rumor mill too much this week so tried to stick to facts on this story. Hearing that DVC is still earmarked for Caribbean Beach but not Coronado Springs. Stay tuned.

That really will change the look of CSR. I was wondering if Disney was going to do something to attract more convention business to CSR since they were getting rid of the convention center at the Contemporary Resort and this announcement confirms that IMO.

I wonder which section of CSR will be removed for this 15 story building? Two of the sections, Casitas and Cabanas could be considered lake front property. I am betting on the Casitas as that area has much larger buildings and land area than the Casitas area does.

The Casitas are on the left and the Cabanas are on the right. The large gray building in the center is the Convention Center and part of the food court at CSR.

'Coaster Lover' on the WDWMagic.com forums created an overlay which shows the location of the new building.

Last week, while we were at Walt Disney World, we drove by Coronado Springs. We didn't walk around the resort, but from the road we could tell that Disney has already started construction of the high rise building. There is a huge mound of dirt just past the bus stop at El Centro, which is the main lobby. It also appeared that at one or two of the cabana buildings that were near the entrance have already been torn down to make room for the high rise.

On the other hand, we didn't notice any signs of construction at the Caribbean Beach Resort when we stayed there for a couple of nights during our trip.
