This seems to be tied in to a new theme (replacing Year of a Million Dreams) starting 1/1/09 according to Mousesavers.com:

That info has been floating around the web for a few weeks now. I think I first read it at WDWMagic.com.
In case you can't tell by reading, it was sent to people who used to be part of the College Program. Sort of a way of temporarily drawing them back into the Disney family to help with these regional presentations.
I haven't gotten caught up on the New York presentation from today. Was there any mention of these events? They start in a few days so it seems like Disney should be starting to market them to the general public.

Since I haven't browsed the boards since last Friday, I may have missed this info somewhere else, but I was told on Tuesday by a DVC rep that they would be opening a center in NY (and I think maybe somewhere else) like the Doorway to Dreams in Chicago.
Sophia: “The race was underway. I start off slow. I’m cagey, like a panther, but when the time is right I pounce! The crowd is on its feet: ‘Sophia! Sophia!’ I could see the finish line; it was only 200-300 yds away. And then, it happened—what every runner dreads. I hit the wall.”
Dorothy: “Ah, ma, you ran out of steam?”
Sophia: “No, I actually hit a wall. They put up a new Wendy’s on Collins Ave.”

I found a website that is supposed to have information on the tours:
www.disneyparkscelebrations.com
Not much there yet.
Unless it's a complete waste of time--or very inconveniently scheduled--I will try to make the one in Detroit.
