(Don't ask where I got this...)
Coming to Your City And You Can Be A Part Of The CELEBRATION!
Disney Parks' Celebration Tour Street Team - This is your exclusive volunteer opportunity to be a part of the launch of Disney Parks' next big Marketing campaign!
Disney Parks is bringing the magic of Disney in an interactive way to 30 cities this fall and winter. This tour is your chance to grow your resume and put the values and standards you learned in Traditions to work in your own city!
Colorful vehicles roll out the fun from town squares to Times Square, featuring a massive distribution of thousands of free Mickey Mouse balloons with a chance for consumers to win a celebration vacation to a Disney Park!
Street Team members will contribute by distributing balloons in pre-determined, high profile, well trafficked locations to the surprise and delight of passers-bye! As a Street Team member, you will receive your very own exclusive celebration tour jacket in appreciation of your commitment, time and energy. In addition, the first 25 people to sign up for each city and participate on the Street Team will also receive a Limited Edition Disney Pin created just for this celebration.
We are asking for a 4 to 8-hour commitment from you on the day we visit your city, to assist us as we blanket the city with thousands of Mickey Mouse Balloons!

This seems to be tied in to a new theme (replacing Year of a Million Dreams) starting 1/1/09 according to Mousesavers.com:
That info has been floating around the web for a few weeks now. I think I first read it at WDWMagic.com.
In case you can't tell by reading, it was sent to people who used to be part of the College Program. Sort of a way of temporarily drawing them back into the Disney family to help with these regional presentations.
I haven't gotten caught up on the New York presentation from today. Was there any mention of these events? They start in a few days so it seems like Disney should be starting to market them to the general public.
Since I haven't browsed the boards since last Friday, I may have missed this info somewhere else, but I was told on Tuesday by a DVC rep that they would be opening a center in NY (and I think maybe somewhere else) like the Doorway to Dreams in Chicago.Sophia: “The race was underway. I start off slow. I’m cagey, like a panther, but when the time is right I pounce! The crowd is on its feet: ‘Sophia! Sophia!’ I could see the finish line; it was only 200-300 yds away. And then, it happened—what every runner dreads. I hit the wall.”
Dorothy: “Ah, ma, you ran out of steam?”
Sophia: “No, I actually hit a wall. They put up a new Wendy’s on Collins Ave.”
-The Golden Girls, Season 2
I found a website that is supposed to have information on the tours:
Not much there yet.
Unless it's a complete waste of time--or very inconveniently scheduled--I will try to make the one in Detroit.
All we would get is a jacket? Not worth my time....let us know who ever does it!
