Although the DVC has yet to acknowledge the huge structure beside the Contemporary resort (though they are already tooting their horns about Hawaii--have they even finally broken ground???), if it really is $140/point, my $96/point for AKV sure seems like a bargain now.![]()

BLT rumours –
08-14-2008,06:50 AM
Just read on another forum a rumour from a CM that BLT will be going on sale at the beginning of October (start of the new fiscal year) at a cost of a minimum of $140 per point!
I didn't know if I could post a link, but I will if given permission. There are a few other members here who I have also seen over there who will know which discussion board I am talking about and may have some comments on the veracity of the information.
Thoughts anyone? It has sparked outrage over at the other place!
If it is true, it will be BWV and VWL resale for us!

Sophia: “The race was underway. I start off slow. I’m cagey, like a panther, but when the time is right I pounce! The crowd is on its feet: ‘Sophia! Sophia!’ I could see the finish line; it was only 200-300 yds away. And then, it happened—what every runner dreads. I hit the wall.”
Dorothy: “Ah, ma, you ran out of steam?”
Sophia: “No, I actually hit a wall. They put up a new Wendy’s on Collins Ave.”

We very much believe in giving credit where credit is due, so please go ahead and post the link. Tanks for the info!
I still have a very hard time believing it will be $140 per point. I guess that would be one way not to shoot AKV in the foot, but just have a hard time thinking that teh BLT owners would not have a fit that people could buy in at over $40 per point less, at the same time they bought in, and get teh same rooms at the 7 month mark.
I stand by the thought that BLT will be very high points, butno more than $110 per point. That and $4 could buy you a Starbucks, though.

Yeah, I wish I had gotten in on OKW back when points were $51 each. But, then, I would have only been 11 years old and hadn't even been to WDW at that point. So, I just have to comfort myself with the fact in 10-15 years points will be $200+ each and then I too can brag about what a great deal I got.

I was thinking it would be around $120/point, with maybe some incentives. However, the idea of owning DVC on the monorail and in walking distance to the MK is so great that I think people would be willing to pay much more for BLT/Kingdom Towers/Quarter Pounder/whatever-it's-finally-going-to-be-called than at SSR or AKV. The tension has been building for so long that members have been planning to add on at the new resort as soon as they can. It will be interesting when the DVC FINALLY claims it what all the details will be--though, at this rate, that may not happen until it is almost sold out.

The speculation at MouseOwners from Greenban is that they were throwing around $180 before the economic downturn. (even though they aren't talking about it - right? doesn't exist as THE Viking said).
I am all for all of us telling them via boards that even $140 is not going to attract people that are current owners. The difference in value doesn't come close to matching the increase in location to most that I have seen here.
The other speculation is that we (current owners) will only get 1 week before it goes on sale to the general public.
I honestly kinda shrug because I have no interest, but I am sorry for those that have been dying for this. I think the 7 month window will be insane.
Good news is that if they prices are that high, most of the users will be newbies (because I dont think people here will be able to justify spending $50 more a point than AKV is selling for) and maybe they won't understand the windows and how things really work. I am not wishing for them to not get what they think they are purchasing, but we all know how the learning curve goes on DVC.

DVC combines two things to determine price per point: A dollar figure & the points chart.
$120.00 may sound considerably cheaper than $140.00, but not if they inflate the points chart. Just adding a couple points to each room catagory could easily boost the "cheap" 120 well above the expensive 140.
IMO, DVC will jack the points chart rather than the price. People only hear price. 120 is easier to market than 140.

Messing with the points chart makes WAY more sense to me. I am going to be honest and say I am a points miser which is why we haven't made any serious attempts to branch out fro SSR except to OKW. I figure one of these days it wont matter so much or hubby and I will take a trip alone and want a unique experience, etc and I will get over it, but when I get can a room which I like for 10 points (for example) and the CV will cost 15-20 points for the same room, then you won't have to worry about me trying to "get your spot"
