Welcome to the DVC News. I haven't taken a DCL cruise so can't advise you there. We keep toying with the idea of taking a Disney cruise so we'd be interested in other's experience too. Hope you have a great time.

Ready for Adventure! –
09-01-2012,10:22 PM
Hello all,
I'm a new member here on the boards, but have been with DVC since 2007. I'm no stranger to WDW (having been part of the Disney College Program, where I worked 8 months at the Magic Kingdom), but I will be going on the DVC Member Cruise coming up in 2 weeks. This will be my first adventure with DCL -- and my first cruise with any line. I'm excited!
I joined the boards to find out more info about the cruise. I'm all signed up for the port adventures and have a reservation at Palo, but as a first-timer, I'm looking for good tips and some ideas as to what to expect at Castaway Cay. I'll dig around and hopefully find some good info.
I look forward to meeting new DVC friends on the board!

Hi Laura! I've never taken a DVC cruise either, but many of our members have and they all seem to love them. We were just talking about cruising in chat this past Friday, as wehttam (a member of these boards) just returned from one. He and his family already booked their next cruise! I hope you have a wonderful time, and if you like sharing we LOVE trip reports! Welcome to our site.

Welcome aboard! I'm also a non-cruiser, but I hope you enjoy yours.

Welcome Laura!
We've never been on a Member's Cruise but did do a 3-night Disney cruise to a couple years ago. Renting bikes at Castaway Cay was a great way to spend an hour or two and the cost was significantly lower than other excursions that they offer. You get to see parts of the island you wouldn't normally see on foot and it leads you to a few story lookout that allows a 360 view of the island. After that the Adult's Only beach is definitely a must if you prefer a quiet, relaxing beach atmosphere.
P.S. Say hi to my wife!

I suggest grabbing a hammock and taking it easy for the day while catching some rays... And dare I say I-L-L? (Proud Member of the Horseshoe)

Thank you all for the warm welcome!
It's a bummer that I missed out on the chat, but I'll definitely be willing to share a trip report! Luckily, I checked reviews of DCL on Yelp, and found plenty of tips.
Rocco, you're pretty much the reason I'm here -- E would frequently mention her "husband and all his Disney friends."
Of course I had to come here and scope it out. Hope to make some of my own pals soon!
And an I-N-I goes out to Red. I'm an East-sider, but I won't be there Saturday, so you'll have to cheer extra loud for me. Instead of sitting in the stands, I'll be sitting in a plane headed down to a little place known as Orlando...
See you all around!
