The weekly gathering for Disney Vacation Club members has undergone some recent changes including the apparent retirement of "first lady" Deevy See.

I really disliked DeeVeeCee, happy to see her go.
Im also glad to see a change to the show. Since I stay at BWV all the time you'd think I would go frequently to Welcome Home Wednedays, but I've only gone twice. I found it silly, and the snacks left a lot to be desired. I did win a DVC golf umbrella in the raffle one of the times I went, admittedly that was cool. I doubt the snacks have improved, but I am still looking forward to seeing a different version of the show during my October visit.

I hope they have another style of DVC hat in May; currently I have 6 of the "free" ones spanning 4 separate designs. I only went to the old version once myself and I was one of the gameshow contestants. I enjoyed that and it certainly helped with my hat collection and I got a little folding stool / cooler combo thingy to boot. Most likely I'll try going to the new version at least once...

Change is good –

I have tried to avoid going after reading about the event & then seeing Deevy See on a promotional video. The character was annoying & the show sounded like a waste of effort. This sounds much more promising & I'll at least think about going, rather than trying to be sure I don't go.
Sorry to hear about the snacks not being good.

Oh, I definitely agree with a lot of you with Deeveecee! although I only went to welcome home wednesdays once it was a cool experience although I got one dose too many of deeveecee. lol! I still have the DVC hat that they gave us but I would've liked to have gone back and done it a few times to try and take part in the show.

I attended a session about two weeks ago and found the new format to be tedious and boring. The first game was kids having to act like an animal and stand on one foot when the "uncle" character said stop. The game went on and on until they declared a tie. The winners got a pin. The next game was blindfolded husbands who had to grab various items on stools utilizing directions being called out by their spouse. With the audience making noise, it was hard to hear what was being said. The winning couple got pins. The third game was a trivia game where you picked a number form 1 through 9 and 2 of the numbers had "zonks" where you lost your points for the questions you answered. The last question was worth 5 points possibly negating anyone working to get 4 questions correct from winning by not answering the final question. There were two women that answered almost all of the questions while the others just stood there. Refreshments were pieces of fruit, a small bag of pretzels, and lemonade. The "gift" was a DVC cloth shopping bag.
I found it to be a waste of an hour. I felt bad for those having to take a bus/busses to get there. Luckily, I was staying at the Boardwalk so it was a short commute.
Why can't they simply discuss current DVC goings-on and any future info they can disclose at the time, spend a few minutes interacting with the crowd, giving away some useful swag, and then call it a day?Last edited by skagman; 08-21-2012 at 08:08 PM.

Glad that Deevee is gone. That character was just a mind numbing idea from the start. I know the idea of Welcome Home Wednesdays is to mingle among other members but most people are talking amongst themselves and get us to buy more points. We've only been to one and never went again. We found the presentation tedious and really sad. We are DVC. Um? However we love our swag DVC hats but the bummer is that we never found the logo like that on another hat.

From what Skagman's post it sounds like almost the same thing. Doubt we'll go again. Although we enjoyed the DVC member event we went to at Bay Lake. The set up was much smaller, food was better and the game show was a lot less tedious. Great break during the heat of the day. The swag was great lanyards, pins, padfolios and insta-fastpasses. The next time we're able to attend another event like that we're there!Julie
