If you make a ressie using current points that have not been banked or borrowed and then cancel that ressie the points will go back into your current use year. You can then bank them into the next use year--Providing you are within the banking Window. February use year points have a banking deadline of September 30.

Question about Canceling –

I have banked 76 pts from 2012 to 2013. These 76 must be used in 2013 or I will lose them. Feb use-year 2013 we will get another 150. Here's the situation.. We wish to book a trip for the first two weeks of May 2013, well within our home resort window right now. DW can not sign up for vacation where she works until November. There is a 60% chance that she won't get the time approved, meaning we'll have to cancel the May trip if I book it now. Should that happen, our option will canceling and rebooking for September, using less pts than we would've for the May trip.
This question pertains to the cancelation policy...............
If we cancel our May reservation (well before the 31 days prior) these points are put back into our account. Other than the 76 pts we rolled from 2012, can we bank our 2013 points to 2014? Including the pts that were canceled.

Yes, you will be able to bank your 2013 points into the 2014 UY if you so desire. Since you have a February UY, you will have until September 30, 2013, to decide whether you want to bank your 2013 points into the 2014 UY.
Now, for the 76 2012 points that you have banked into the 2013 UY: Those 76 points will have to be used sometime between February 1, 2013, and January 31, 2014. You won't be able to extend the life of those points beyond that date.
If you cancel your May 2013 trip and then rebook the trip for September 2013, Member Services will normally make sure that it uses your banked points first (meaning your 76 2012 points before it taps into your 2013 points. Even the Online Booking System makes sure to use banked points first before using your 'current annual allocation' points.
Good luck on getting your vacation time!
