    two questions:

    1) does anyone know if 5 day vacations are getting any refund on points? or just voucher credit?

    2) can we still book vacations and get the refund?

    thanks!!

We are staying at Aulani Nov 20 - 25. Due to availability at the time (and the number of points I had) I had to split the stay with 2 nights in an Ocean View 1BR and 3 nights in a Garden View 1BR. I was bummed I was going to have to move rooms until I heard from Guest Services this week that I was going to receive a credit of TWO nights (presumably one for each ressie...SWEET). I'm not going to argue with 5 nights for the "price" of 3!

I don't know about new reservations but I did find it interesting that my email has an asterisk next to the credit and the small print at the bottom says:
"* Please note if you choose to make any changes to your reservation (type of view, dates, or number of nights), your Vacation Point credit eligibility is subject to change. Please contact Member Services with any questions." To ME that suggests that the credit is only being given to those who booked before having knowledge of the upcoming construction...

I just received a letter that gives a $50 room credit for a one night stay. We fortunately live 25 minutes away from Aulani.

It could be that your credit amounts could just change. As others have posted some are getting less than 2 nights credit others are only getting a cash credit on their accounts. It will be interesting to hear if people that book after a certain date don't get the same offer.

I know that Disney is discounting points for stays up to the 22nd of December because of construction projects. My planned visit, unfortunately, begins on the 23rd (grrrrrr). I recently contacted member services to see if the construction would be finished. What I gathered from the rep was that the MAJOR part of the construction should be over, however, there will still be some level of visual / physical distraction during our visit. She also stated that, in the event the projects don't go as planned, Disney may decide to refund points for visits after the 22nd - however, that can't be guaranteed at this time.

My question is, do any of you think issues like these are negotiable? This is my very first stay at any resort as a DVC member, and I don't exactly know where the line is drawn, or if there is any room to negotiate on issues like these.

Thanks much for your advice / opinions!

As a lawyer friend of mine always says, you can try to negotiate anything. Doesn't mean that you'll gain anything, but you can always try.

However, it may be that the construction at Aulani will not intrude on your enjoyment of the resort. Most of the major construction projects will be occurring in the northwest corner of the resort property near the Wailana Leisure Pool and Bar. Given the normal traffic patterns around the resort, guests will not have to go into this area. You'll still have full access to the Waikolohe main pool, the lazy river, the water slides, all the restaurants and bars (except for perhaps the Wailana Bar), and the beach and lagoon.

We were told for several CMs that Aulani plans to open part of Phase 3 ahead of time so that guests can be moved away from rooms that might be near the construction to rooms that are on the opposite side of the resort.

So, it might be that you won't experience anything that warrants a request for special compensation.

Aulani is a beautiful resort. I'm sure you'll have a great time!
