Was curious as to if anyone has had subpar service(Disney Standards) at Shutters VB. Im currently on my first visit at VB with my family and decided to try out Shutters last night. We went after normal dinner times arriving approx 830. We were sat rather fast and accommodated to a different table. I counted 9 other seated tables that I could see. The waitress was hurried and seemed overwhelmed. She was. Took almost 45 mins to get food. Bread was good. Only thing that came out correct was a kids salad and fruit. Pizza was frozen. Steak undercooked. Chicken so dry it's a shame. Kids mac n chesses was microwaved so many times it was kinda hard. I'm still waiting for my shrimp. Manager didn't charge us but we didn't eat majority of items that we received. I stopped by front desk and requested to speak to hospitality mgr. Havent heard back. Is this the norm here?? Thank god for in room microwave, hot dogs and chips. Worst DVC experience EVER.

I don't believe it is possible to undercook a steak.

Haven't been to Shutter's in years but do recall it as very disappointing. Seems they haven't improved at all.

That said, the Sunday Brunch at Sonya's was excellent.

When I first read your post I was thinking that the Shutters restaurant at CBR is the same, the food so so and service slow. Maybe the name is jinxed.

You could report it to DVC Member Satisfaction if you want. It seems when complaints go to them action is taken to correct problems.

I never ate at either but can't help but wonder if Shutters should be shuttered from these reviews...

Sorry to hear you did not enjoy your dinner at Shutter's. My family and I have eaten there several times after a day visit to Vero Beach. We have never had a bad meal. The staff was friendly and attentive. However, we always make reservations right at the time of opening for dinner service maybe that makes a difference. We never wait to be served and the food has always been good.

If you did not enjoy your experience, you should definitely say something to a manager. We had a very bad dinner experience at Hilton Head when we attended the Edmond's Family Buffet. The food was cold, they ran out, there were only two pieces of dried out desert sitting on the table, we ate on paper plates with flimsy plastic ware and the buffet was from 5 -8 and the staff started cleaning up around 7:00. I was going to complain to the staff member that was signing in guests but she left and locked up. When I came home I filled out a survey for the resort and although everything at the resort was wonderful, I did complain about the buffet. A couple of weeks later I received a phone call from Disney apologizing for the terrible service and was given a full refund for the dinner and asked to check in with the manager (she gave me her name) next time we are there to see if everything was to our satisfaction. Because of the wonderful response and refund I got from Disney I will most likely try the buffet next time I am there.

I'm a bit confused. The HHI resort doesn't have a true restuarant and I'm only aware of the clam back they offer once a week. What is/was the Edmond's Family Buffet ? Was it a private party catered by Disney ?

I ate at Shutters in May and I enjoed my meal. Chicken velvet soup was awesome. Desserts weren't good at all and not much variety. The service wasn't wondeful. I remember thinking this must be the staff that didn't make the WDW cut. I tried to buy ice cream at the pool cafe and charge it to my room key bit it was denied. He said I didn't have charging priveleges but when I checked in with my AMEX I was given a card that said I had $2000.00 limit with my card on file. I was a bit peeved I had to go find some cash. I did enjoy my stay and plan to go back with my family and if possible rent the 3 bdr house but I plan to eat in town. The pirates buffet was very similiar to the skillet served at the Whispering Canyon.

I apologize for the confusion, it is the Edmund's Family Low Country Boil. Set up buffet style at the beach house on Tuesdays, run by Disney.

Ah... forgot about the beach house. Thanx for clarifying.
