Do we get preferential treatment now?

I have a different idea. I'd rather the preferential treatment go to those who exhibit good manners at check in. Too much "I'm entitled to X" in this world these days. We all paid in advance to hedge our bets against room rate increases. Unless they are refusing us the type of booked room at check-in, there should be no fuss. But too often, at a DVC check-in, there is.

I do like the properties I stay at to know if I'm in their rewards program or an owner, because I have been very pleasantly surprised to receive free parking, free laundry tokens or other unexpected benefits.
I've read that hotels know who has booked through discounters, and have the option to give them the less desirable rooms--every place has them. Clearly, that means their regulars/members may have a better experience. They've already shown their loyalty, let's acknowledge it.

What Would Walt Do? –

Walt Disney World is the trip of a lifetime for so many people. I would like to think that the DVC resorts treat everyone fairly, the best room, view, location available at time of check-in; regardless of status. However, when a DVC member makes a special request at the time of booking, it would be nice to be accommodated...
