No.
RCI Exchange: A DVC Member initiated the exchange. Should that Member expect a dumpster view at the RCI resort ?
Cash Guest: I'm a Cash Guest and have no idea what DVC is all about. I just know that I paid $$$$$$ so I can stay in a Grand Villa and impress the heck out of my family & friends. Now you want to give me an HC room or some Villa that's going down for refurb when I check out ?
If a Member isn't staying in the room it's because a member chose to use their points elsewhere. I don't feel the "outsiders" that allowed that to happen should be penalized.
Now, having said all that, I don't believe these outsiders should be given any preferrential treatment. I don't want Disney looking at these guests as prospects, hoping if they give them the best room they'll want to buy into DVC.

DVCNews Debates: Preferential Treatment –
08-06-2012,02:00 AM

Not all guests staying at Disney Vacation Club resorts are DVC members. At any given time, many rooms are occupied by friends or relatives of members, non-members who are renting points, people trading in from another timeshare system via RCI and even cash guests paying hundreds of dollars per night to stay in a villa.
To our knowledge DVC does not have any procedures in place to give preferential treatment to owners or any other group. In terms of gaining early access to a room, getting a newly-refurbished room, receiving a requested view or location, non-members have the same odds as DVC owners. *
Topic: *Should DVC members receive preferential treatment when staying in DVC villas?

No. Equal rights for all.
Now, if they want to have a member's only lounge, I'd be okay with that. Other than something like that, anyone staying in a villa should have the same first class treatment as the owner.

Given that we all pay dues, I would hope all the rooms were of like quality, of course I expect there to be some wear and tear, etc.
Giving like quality rooms to all guest would be preferable since I would think DVC would like some of those non-members to become members.
To me, the preferential treatment we receive is in the form of all the discounts and offers we have access too.

I would like to see some preference paid to the dues paying people as opposed to the renters and cash people. I don't think anyone should get a sub par room, no matter what the room should be clean and in good repair. But I like the idea of members getting first crack at newly refurbished rooms, view/location preference and earlier room access.

While there may be no official policy I do notice that we tend to get our rooms immediately upon arrival. We have only been DVC members for a year but we were frequent visitors prior to that. I don't know if that has any bearing on it but it seems to. I also noticed it when we stayed at All-Star Sports last month. We were there for a night because we decided to come a day early and couldn't find a good DVC room. We booked the value room under my name, which we don't usually use, and we were told we would have to wait, once I mentioned my wife's name they saw that we were regulars, annual passholders, and DVC members, you should have seen the manager hop when she saw that. 10 minutes later we were in our overnighter at All-Star. The following morning the first thing we did was checkout and head to AKV, again instant room no hassle.

I think that my guests staying on points should have the same perks as I do. But if I rent my points to someone for cash then I don't believe they should get the perks, they are already getting a great rate on the room by renting points.
I have mixed feelings about the cash guests. Because of these cash guests our exchanges are covered and also any rooms we don't book bring money into the DVC resort's budget. But then they didn't spend the big bucks to buy the points. Not sure about cash guests. I guess it wouldn't bother me either way.--Denise
