The lanai was lushly landscaped with hibiscus and ferns, screening it somewhat from the lightly used walkway beyond. The pictured view was to the right: you can see the outer wall of Laniwai's outdoor hydrotherapy garden (which also provided a soundtrack of waterfalls and very soft ambient music), as well as the adjacent wing of guest rooms. The view to the left was of more landscaping and the Marriott beyond.

Other Comments
We were a little worried about having a ground floor room, but being on the opposite side of the hallway from the main pool area, it was really very quiet. The room faced the northwest side of the Aulani property, which meant the room stayed nice and cool until late in the day without a lot of effort from the air conditioner -- several mornings we opened up the sliding doors (with screens - yay!) and enjoyed the island breeze.

One of the other nice things about staying on the ground floor of the Waianae Tower was that we frequently had to pass the hallway that leads to Laniwai, the gorgeous spa, and drank in the lovely scent wafting our way.

You are not the first person to be pleasantly surprised with the advantages of being on the ground level. Mouseaider was across the hall from you in villa 110 and he really liked its location.

Now that you have stayed in an Island View villa, do you think you'll try a different view category if you return to Aulani?
