For months Disney's Grand Floridian Resort has been impacted--to varying degrees--by construction work on the forthcoming Disney Vacation Club villas. *Now it seems the situation will continue to get worse before it gets better.*

IMO it looks like the GF is getting a face lift just in time for all those potential DVC buyers. LOL But it does seem strange that they are doing so many refurbs all at the same time. Perhaps they know the construction has already lowered the number of guests staying at GF so they are taking advantage and doing needed maintenance now?

Wow! I agree with Denise on this. And many visitors to WDW are unread and unaware of forums. Imagine paying all that money to book the Grand Floridian for your family's BIG, perhaps one-time, trip to WDW, only to check in and find out about all this. Boy, I'd hate to be the CM behind the desk on that one! I wonder if it would be better to just close the resort for a while, like they did with POR way back in 2001/2002 (although I know the reasoning was different). I hope those CMs have their ear plugs in for when they get yelled at by irate guests!

I would imagine those families would be notified prior to their arrival. Several years before we became a DVC'ers we booked a room at Shades of Green. About a month before our vacation started they called us and let us know that due to renovations at SOG we were being booked into the Contemporary. Not sure if that was just SOG policy to notify or if it was Disney policy. I'd be interested in finding out.
WDW first visit in 1973 -- 25 times to WDW, 5 times to DL since.

Sounds to me like they will be able to film all of this in early December and include it in the Christmas Day Disney parade.

I will be shocked if DVD isn't selling GFV before December. Visitors to GF will be able to see the Christmas decorations, the GF rehabs, and the exterior of GFV.

That's good- if I didn't keep up with things here I'd be upset to get a surprise about a LOT of closures where I was staying!
