Actually, I rarely watch wishes anymore from the MK, probably been three years or more. Just once a trip from the Poly, on the beach, with a Rum Runner. Or two. Or.....

If you are a fan of Wishes from the BLT balcony, great. But the fact is the "Show" makes no sense when viewing from a mile away with a side view. And as I said earlier in this thread or the other one, the balcony is almost always very windy and twice ( out of maybe 5 times ) the wind brought Wishes smoke right into our faces. Could barely even see the 2nd half of the show.

Also, I DON'T NEED TO BUY POINTS THERE LIKE YOU DID to use the lounge. I'll use my OKW points, that I paid $43.00 pp, and book at 7 months. Stayed there twice withOUT even using the waitlist.

When I went to the Disney Business institute classes they knew how far the average guest traveled, how much they spent, how far a guest would go before they would throw trash on the ground, all kinds of information. They told us how much one of the popcorn stands made in a year in popcorn.

If Disney is changing something about the TOTW lounge they feel they have a good reason.

They are trying this for a reason and I bet it is money. What else could it be? BLT doesn't have its own store in it, you have to walk over to the main hotel. I am sure it is because it is cheaper to have one than staff and fill another with inventory in BLT. Same with a check in, cheaper. It is all about money, so either it isn't making money or not enough in their minds.
They didn't realize that from the beginning. Why does everything have to include everybody else. I had said it before. I really don't mind if they open it to all DVCers. But. When I am the for the last 2 weeks in August and my family, all 3 of us are set to go up there and they tell me it is at capacity, I am from NY. I may lose my mind!

I should clarify my point abt "free perks". I mean that Disney doesn't charge extra for use after you've paid for room/tickets, etc. of course Disney will calculate all expenses vs income. For example, Disney charges xxx number of dollars for a room and offers free bus service to the resort as a perk. Of course it is calculated into room costs but it's not like you pay for your room and another add on charge for bus service. Disney offers so many things that are "free".

One big problem I have with the cost of funding TOTWL is I don't drink and try to eat rather healthy. I don't think I should be refused entry to view the fireworks because I don't want a drink or greasy appetizer. So yes I may be part of the "problem". I think a big portion of this argument is the floor has very distinct uses between guests. Some want access to the lounge for drinks and others want access to watch fireworks and they are molding together so that one can't exist without the other. I understand that are lot of logistics behind operating the floor; however, my OPINION is that there are better ways for this place to make its money than alcohol sales considering most of the users are families watching the fireworks.

Maximus it is in the blt contract that totwl rules can be changed at any time and despite what any cm has said it has EVERYTHING to do with the signed contract.
So let them in until 7pm and its time to go. People still aren't going to go because it is a trek to get there and back from whence you came. They are not taking the monorail there and they can't drive.

OK I have a question and A comment. First how are they letting people into BLT for this, Is the front door open now or do you have to knock? I was there last week and the sky walk was still keyed.

I have to omit they need to do something to fix the TOTW lounge. When I went there last week there was about 20 people there for fireworks and it took 20 minutes to get a drink! And I'm taking 4th of July week. If it can't be self sustaining then it will ether be shut down or our dues will go up to cover it, nether idea is real thrilling to me. If they can make it work with Just DVC members having access ill gladly share.

Yes. You are right. They are slow when it comes to serving drinks. They always make me wait. I did notice that. But if they came quicker, I may have 2 or 3, not one!
I don't know how they are letting people into the building. I really don't know why it HAS to be shared. Why does everything have to be fair to everybody.

I am only posting a side note to this previous comment and not on the debate itself...

The Skywalk being keyed will not stop a single person from entering BLT. The pizza delivery guys who push flyers under the doors just wait until someone walks thru the doors and viola' they are in. If you come by the front doors, it is a little harder, but usually people are courteous enough that if someone knocks on the door or waves and points at the door they can get the door opened. Its the curse of nice people... However, that is if someone is determined to enter BLT and not your average guest.

Okay, enough of the sidetrack... Back to the debate

The motion sensor at the entry door down by the southern elevator bank is set way to sensitive. People just getting on & off the elevator trigger it to open. BLT: Fort Know it Aint.

I didnt think the door on the south elevators was keyed (or at least I dont recall ever having to use my key to enter the south doors once on the skywalk). I thought it was only keyed from the contemporary side of the skywalk as you come off the viewing deck.
