We go around to the front of our house & head to the neighbor to discover WWIII took place and we slept thru it. I start pushing the neighbors doorbell, but it was my "Duh, dumba$$, no power" that actually alerted him to my presence.

I loved that. We were without power for several days after a hurricane once. Yet isn't it funny how we keep up habits? Even after several days, I was "turning on lights" and then reminding myself why the lights wouldn't turn on even after I flipped the switch.

Yep. An old refillable. Refills are still free at my house.
We will be there tomorrow with mugs in hand!

We had our cooler all packed with stuff for a beach day in Nonoland early Saturday morning, hoped to be on the road before 7:00 AM.

Anytime we have a storm at night, I always peek out my bedroom window when I get up to see what branches are down, we have massive oak trees in our back yard. So I look outside and I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Something is wrong but it's not registering in my brain. Finally focus enough to realize I'm looking at a 15' wall of dirt 10 feet outside my bedroom window. What used to be there was a 100' oak. I told Millie "Our tree is gone". She said "What?" I told her "Our tree is GONE". We repeated this conversation for about a minute or two before she believed me.

Now we go outside, our tree is across the neighbors deck & house. Great....we killed our neighbors.

We go around to the front of our house & head to the neighbor to discover WWIII took place and we slept thru it. I start pushing the neighbors doorbell, but it was my "Duh, dumba$$, no power" that actually alerted him to my presence.

Well...everyone inside survived and the damage done was miraculously little.

So I fire up the generator & plug in the Camper & big chest freezer in the garage and procede to move in to our new digs. House across the street had a tree sticking out of their roof, but no injuries. We let the store all their frozen stuff in our freezer.

In some respect we had a great time. Talked to our neighbors more the last few days than we did the previous 20 years. We hung up our Mickey lights on the camper awening and got many thumbs ups & horn toots from passersbye as we sat out in our lawn chairs with a fan blowing air conditioned trailer air on us.

But as time wore on it got a bit discouraging especially when we heard no power till the 6th at the earliest. That would mean canceling our weekend trip to Boston to see Et & Al and the grandsons. Also spending $15.00 a day on gas for the generator. But this morning we finally see the line crews working on our hot spot and at 11:15 AM today, we turned our central air on and did a happy dance.

Yesterday a tree service diced up most of our tree and tossed the wood in our yard so I'll be spending the next several weeks turning big wood into little wood ( I know there is a joke in there somewhere...but I'm tired).

All in all, since no one was hurt, it's been a good few days. Hopefully a once in a lifetime experience.

Millie will be posting pics later, here & on FB.

I am so glad no one was hurt. I can believe you slept through it - a tree uprooted behind my RV last summer, and I was amazed the next morning, to see it laying across the road.
But it was not near as big as your tree. Our kids & grandbaby lost their power for 4 days, and crashed with us. They lost most of the food in their fridge.
It's finally supposed to break this week, and give us some relief from the heat.
Did you have any photos of the neighbor's house, with the tree on it ?

    STAY COOL!
