I have booked into Little Mermaid area in mid October for about $120 a night (maybe a little less). But yes, it did try to book me into a Suite first and then I had to select the downgrade and update the price to get there.

Denise what are your dates in November? There is availability for the little mermaid section in a standard room the first weekend, 11/2-11/4. It was tricky though. They actually first offer you the suite, and then there is a box to check to change to standard. Then you have to update the page (there is a link to do so) to see the new price for the standard (little mermaid) room. There is also availablity for the weekend of November 16-18. Nothing for the weekend in between though, November 9-11 only shows suites with no other option. I believe that's because the half marathon is that weekend, but of course I don't know for sure.

Amazingly there is also availability for thanksgiving weekend, November 23-25 in a little mermaid room.

Thanks for the tip. We went back to the cash reservation website and can see the Little Mermaid standard room option on some but not all nights. We check into AKV on 11/12 to 11/20, and we are looking for a cash room for the nights of 11/10 and 11/11. However, it looks like the Little Mermaid rooms are not available for the days we want. We might have to wait until our June 2013 trip before we get a chance to try out the Art of Animation rooms.

On the off chance that CRO might have a Little Mermaid room available, we called Disney this morning to see if a standard room was available at the Art of Animation Resort for 11/10-11/12. No luck -- the family suites were the only things available at AoA for those dates. So, we fell back to Plan B and booked two nights in a Royal Guest Room at Port Orleans Riverside. This will be our first stay at Port Orleans, so we'll have a 'new' resort to check out.

I guess we'll have to wait until our June 2013 trip to try out the AoA resort.
