Planned our trip some time ago to visit Disneyland and especially California Adventure. Looking out our room window now at DCA watching the park operate for the media but guests can't enter. Wish we had know before we booked Disney was shutting the park down.

That is a bummer. Are you planning on going to DL tonight? It will be probably be packed though.

Disney announced the park was closed on the 14th quite a while ago. I am sorry just the same.

Went into the park on the 15th, and Cars Land was as packed as expected but the rest of the park was a pretty ordinary busy summer day. Not bad at all.

Cars Land though had waits around 4 hours for Radiator Springs Racers, 2 hours for Luigi's Flying Tires and 1 hour for Maters.

Looks like the early reports from the general public are in agreement.
Consensus is Disney has hit a real "Home Run" with Radiator Racers.

I'm looking forward to riding it, but I think I'll give it a couple months for the crowds to die down a bit.
The buzz about California Adventure around Southern California is amazing right now.
Way more than when it first opened!!

In the meantime, I'll head over and give the refurbished Matterhorn a few runs.

    That... Looks... AMAZING!

Just this morning I made all the reservations for my wife and I to go to Disneyland in January.

Rode it for the 1st time yesterday, 4 times actually!!! I'm pretty much speechless.
Happy to say that that in my book, Universal no longer has the best ride on the Planet anymore.
    Sorry Mr. Potter.

Even if you're not a fan of 'Cars', you'll love this ride.
If you do love 'Cars', you'll explode with happiness.

    Quick tip.
The wait time for RSR was between 110 and 120 minutes all day long.
However, I rode it using the "single rider" line and only waited 20 minutes, 25 minutes, 30 minutes, and 35 minutes for my 4 rides.
On my last ride of the night, the woman sitting next to me asked me how long I had waited and then started berating her husband after I told her.
She said they had waited just under 2 hours versus my 25 minutes.

Unless you're with a small child you need to ride with, use "single rider".
Sitting with your loved one is nice, but so is the possibility of riding 3 to 4 times while someone else is sitting in line for 1 ride.
And besides, often the single rider couples end up in the same car anyway.

All of the fast passes were gone within 2 hours of opening. Obviously that will ease up over time.

I already can't wait to go back. The entire California Adventure Park was is perfect condition. They've really gone all out!

Thanks for the tip, worldfanatic. Hopefully, we'll be able to put it to good use in the Fall of 2013.
