I just got the following email from DVC:

As a valued part of our Member community, we wanted to let you know that now is a great time to Add On to your Disney Vacation Club Membership at the current price of $130 per vacation point at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas or $160 per vacation point at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort before those prices increase to $135 and $165, respectively, on July 15, 2012.

Whether you feel most at home on the savanna or in a place that makes Cinderella Castle your nightlight, I'm ready to help your family make more memories in the years ahead.
All of us at Disney Vacation Club hope you have a great summer, and I look forward to welcoming you home again soon.

Are the points really going up in price AGAIN? Are they selling that many to justify a price increase (wasn't there already one in the spring?)

Yes, i received the same email. No way I would pay $165 a point. I thought Bay Lake was expensive when I bought it when it opened.

It makes my purchase in the low 90s at BLT look like a steal!

I think it's to get everyone ready for the premium pricing of GF (& possible Poly??)

Well, they are selling a lot of points. May 2012 was the best month for direct sales since I started tracking sales in July 2010. And April 2012 was the third best month. I'll have an article on the Front Page in the next day or so about Monthly Sales for May 2012.

Scary thought, but if the demand is there, you know Disney will ask for that price. It might eliminate some sales, but there are always newbies that will buy at the higher price. I would expect that there will be an offering for current members at a lower price until sales for VGF are opened to the public. Didn't they do something like that for BLT?

I hope they do offer lower prices for current members. If you become a member through resale, would you still be eligible for the discounted price if they offer it for the GF?

When people stop buying, they'll stop raising.

Of course, they'll still keep raising the number of points required to spend the night with each new resort they build.
