Thanks Denise! Congrats too! This trip is much deserved and needed after all the medical stuff you've had to go through

I can tell you that, yes the water taxis can accomodate scooters. No problems with loading, just drive it right on. There are designated areas for them and they may ask other passengers to move to accomodate them. No issues to worry about there.

The 165 points that we were using for that trip (2 nights AKV Concierge; 7 nights SSR) were put in Holding Status. Holding Status points expire at the end of our Use Year (January 31, 2013) and can only be used to book reservations no more than 60 days in the future. We thought about using the Holding points to extend our November 2012 stay. However, the Online Reservation System is already showing limited availability for November and December and our fear was that by the time September comes and our 60-day Holding Window opens we might have real difficulty using our 165 points. And that would leave only mid or late January to use up our points.

Well, we couldn't wait any longer. Today, we booked a 12 night trip to WDW for the end of July and first part of August. We are staying at Pop Century for two nights and then staying at SSR for 10 nights. This will be our second stay at Pop and our first stay at SSR.

Yeah, we know we'll have Florida's summertime heat and humidity and the summertime crowds to deal with. But its just as hot and humid here in Houston and there is no Mickey & Minnie, parades, attractions, etc. etc. here in Houston to distract us from the weather. To paraphrase someone's screen name: We'd Rather Be In WDW.

We're looking forward to checking out the new Art of Animation -- thanks to JaxFlaBear for the tip about the Table in Wonderland Card being accepted at AoA. Also need to check on the progress of the Villas at Grand Floridian construction, the new Fantasyland additions, and I'm hoping The Avengers monorail is still in operation. Denise is checking into making some ADRs as I type this.

52 days and counting until we check into Pop Century on July 29th; 54 days until we are at Home at SSR.
Oh, Will and Denise, that's so wonderful! And in a way, summertime trips in the extreme heat are fun. That kind of trip FORCES you to spend less time running around the parks, more time lying around the pool or inside with a good book, just "chillin'"
If you get to eat at the Art of Animation, could you please post here on what you have and how you like it? I'm most interested in the Tandoori Acorn Squash and naan bread, but lots of things on the menu look interesting. Whatever happens (and I hope it's all good), have a great, restful trip.

That's good to hear BillK that August is a nice time to visit WDW.

Simbasmom, we'll definitely be taking your advice on chillin' in the heat of the day at the resort. We are both looking forward to spending more time at DTD in the evenings.

Being a former teacher, July and August were the only times my family could go to WDW. The heat and humidity are extreme in summer but on the plus side, the parks are open late so we'd always go back to our resort after lunch to use the pool and have some down-time during the hottest part of the day. Then we'd go back to the parks for dinner and more rides when it was cooler.

Glad you got a reservation- I'm not sure I would have taken that chance, either. We love SSR as it is a beautiful resort. Its proximity to DTD is very nice.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Minne's Friend, cruisindisney, drcoulsey, it's 7 weeks until we get to WDW and we are both excited. I appreciate your advice about the summer heat.

This is great news Wil and Denise! I am so glad you guys are going this summer. We love SSR-especially Congress Park. We love the quiet pool and I think it is the same distance to DTD as it is to HH from there. (and, Meriwyn-you could easily ride your scooter to DTD from CP.)
    Hope your trip is great!
