So the rumors are true. I would think the the RFID usage at AoA could be a factor. If you need an RFID card to get into the pool then outsiders would have problems pool hopping.

I dont think dvc members should be excluded from pool hopping at a value resort.

It's possible that it's blocked because it's new. The front desk could issue a KTTW card to allow entry to the pool for those allowed to pool hop. Members that want to make the 2 hour drive can pool hop to Vero Beach and the pool there requires a KTTW card to open the gate.

Cha Ching. Won that bet I had with myself. Dollar from the right pocket now going into my left pocket.
Pool hopping will soon be a thing of the past.

So what's the timing on that prediction?

I have mixed feelings on it. Pool hopping is a zero cost "perk" to offer. Personally I think it has more to do with the gates they keep placing around new pools. Functionally they could request DVC members stop at the front desk to get a dummy card made up but I don't think they even want to bother with it.
Folks have been predicting the end of pool hopping as long as I have been a member (9 years.) It could go away tomorrow but I could also see it continuing for many years to come as a dwindling offering.

Let me rephrase: Pool hopping to new resorts is a thing of the past.
I don't know that OKW, SSR and BWV will ever stop hopping between the three, but we never had AKL or BLT (and I believe we lost CR when BLT went up). Want to wager a dollar that GF will be gone as soon as DVC opens there ?
I'm not sure how individual resorts are managed, but I can see where the Manager at Resort X would rather not have a gazzillion DVC members having access to his pool.

This will have no impact on us as my kids enjoy a pool slide, which none of the Values have. My problem with the Value resort pool areas is the vast amounts of concrete with no shade.
Also we did pool hopping once to the Poly and found it a big pain in the butt. We plan on pool hopping on our trip one day next week from AKL to SSR because my wife is getting a spa treatment, but for the most part we rarely hop.
All of the DVC resorts have nice pools, we will swim where we are staying.

I don't use the pools and only one of my kids does. She's more than happy to use the one at BWV. So this doesn't affect me one bit. But it still annoys the heck out of me on principle alone.

Here we go again!! I'm up for this thread as Pool Hopping is very dear to us!We use it as a huge part of our entertainment when in the world! We spend lots of cash at each resort on breakfast, lunch, dinner at signatures, and make the most of the pool servers!!(very partial to a cocktail or three!)We would be very sad to see it go!I so would love to be a fly on the wall at DVC meetings when this perk is discussed to discover once and for all if the management have any idea just how many "illegals"!!! are poolside before they decide on banning DVC members!! Whilst staying at the Poly last year during the labour day blackout we were amazed at how many !"guests" were asked to vacate the pool area when a room key check was made!! and when talking to a lifeguard he said that almost all were "guests" who thought the purchase of a parc ticket (or not!!) enabled them to be there!!!!!! Have to say also that if pool-hopping disappears we would think long and hard about choosing to use our points in WDW in the future so how will this benefit DVC?? P.S. when has anyone seen any pool FULL. Since 1994,always visit twice a year (Aug/Sep and Dec) and NEVER not found vacant sunbeds! Linda
