We saw Disney's Newsies on Broadway on Friday night and WOW what a show! So much energy in the fantastic dance numbers!

If you have an opportunity to see the show, I recommend it! It's good to see Disney's theater division with such a hit on their hands!

I do want to see this production and am glad to hear it was very good. We are subscribed to 2012-2013 Columbus Broadway Series and will see Beauty and the Beast, White Christmas, Million Dollar Quartet, American Idiot, War Horse, Wicked, and Les Miserables.

And this production was never intended to transfer to Broadway. The production in NJ was to get the show ready for performances by high schools and such. From playbill.com:
Initially, Disney had planned Newsies for the stock and amateur market. According to Disney Theatrical Productions, "The stage adaptation had been developed for licensing to theatre groups and its Paper Mill run intended only as a pilot production for that market. The planned next step was to immediately release the title to the theatres and schools who had for many years made Newsies the single most requested title of all the Disney film musicals not yet adapted to the stage."

The broadway production was initially a limited run, but is now an open-ended engagement.

We subscribe to the broadway series here in Orlando. For the 2012/2013 season we have: Beauty and the Beast, Million Dollar Quartet, Sister Act, Mary Poppins, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and Memphis. Wicked is returning as a season special (separate purchase).

Looks like we have some overlap--our Baltimore season tickets are B&B, Million Dollar Quartet, American Idiot and Wicked, along with Billy Elliot. I'm jealous about Les Miz--it's my ALL TIME FAVORITE! Thank goodness the movie is coming out in December!

Mary Poppins and Memphis were part of our season this past year. I expected a lot from Mary Poppins (and was not disappointed) but Memphis blew us away.

We had Les Miz in January. Was reading about the movie and the singing will not be lip synced.

La Cage aux Folles opens today and we see it Sunday (last show of 2011/2012 season). As for the 2012/2013 season, I'm looking forward to Priscilla the most.

We liked La Cage (it was part of our season this year). Get there early so you can enjoy Lilly's routine/not get harassed by her

The first Les Miz trailer was released last week. I am BEYOND excited. I love Hugh Jackman, so having him in my favorite musical is super exciting.

I think we are going to try to get back to NYC to see Newsies again soon.

We saw La Cage on broadway with Kelsey Grammer and Douglas Hodge, so we've seen her pre-show routine. We're always at the theatre early so we won't miss her. Looking forward to see how the show is different with George Hamilton and Christopher Sieber as the leads. Saw on twitter that a couple of the Cagelles (in street clothes) are at WDW today.

My employer's holiday party will be in Morristown, NJ this December so we are planning on a few nights in NYC either before or after. We typically wing it and see what's available at the TKTS Booth that day.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of them. I wasn't a fan of George (he seemed about 50 years too old) but Christopher was good.

Recently I've found that there are better tickets on the web in the days just before a show than at TKTS. I found my sister and friends tickets to see Peter and the Starcatcher on Friday afternoon for the Saturday night show. $55 each for center, four rows from the stage. Of course that doesn't always work, and I definitely paid $150 each for my Evita tkts the same night!

OMG!! One of my daughter's favorite movies of all time. If it comes within a few hundred miles of us, we will see it for sure.
