Ok, so very off-topic for this forum.....
But, in the morning before I go to work, I am hoping to see the Olympic Torch pass through our town!
Its a once in a lifetime occurrence I feel, so will be dragging the children with me (sure they will appreciate that, especially DD(18) who is out tonight celebrating the end of her school years

Its just as well that I am on a late shift (i.e. lunchtime start) as all the roads are closed from 0745-1130hrs....

Wow, that is a once in a lifetime experience. I can see why you are pretty excited. I hope you get a great viewing spot. Take some photos okay?

I'm amazed they closed the roads for that many hours on a work day. You might be late for your shift because the traffic will be all backed up anyway. Any chance you're within walking distance from work?

My daughter's classmate was actually selected to carry the torch. But, no I could not send her over to watch, though two other girls from the class are going.

About a 20 minute drive to work unfortunately. I start work at 1 pm, so hoping roads will be fairly clear by then!

Hopefully, I can take some photos but am expecting crowds and I am only small!

There are bands and entertainment en route too

That's Awesome...when the winter Olympics were in Vancouver in 2010 they ran the torch across canada and it came through Edmonton. I had a front row seat....it was a pretty cool experience....

That's awesome. I don't believe when weve had the games in the U.S. that it came close enough to me or I was old enough to get there on my own.

Hopefully you also get to see someone cool. I would have love to seen Matt Smith or Didier Drogba carry it.

Did you get to see the torch, Sharon? How was the entertainment? And how was the drive to work?

Total bummer she couldn't watch. Great for her classmate though.
