I sold my AKV points and am selling my VWL points to buy more BWV points. I'll probably do a small VGF add-on when they start selling (but just for DW).

I only get so many weeks of vacation, so I just can't keep adding on unless I start renting out excess points.

Given the cost of VGF and a future Poly DVC, why would I take a bath on selling points at an older resort and then buy half as many points at a new resort at the then-current price from DVC?

I would have to really, really want to stay there a lot and it would have to offer my big 3 wants in a home resort: 1) view, 2) walk to a theme park, and 3) access to great dining.

I have never had an issue anywhere at the 7 month window and I already have 2 home resorts that I truly enjoy. It is doubtful that I would be interested in points at Poly or GFV. If anything, a purchase would be about adding additional points, but my DW is talking about reviewing points usage, etc. before talking about add on points.

I would sell it all to buy Aulani! Unfortunately with the new rules for resale I cannot imagine being able to unload what I have to buy again and not take a total loss.

No - having bought direct and being fairly new owners, I don't think this would work for us. Maybe if we bought in the 90s or via re-sale it would be viable.

I would definitely not sell to buy again. I am fine with owning points at akv and hoping I have the luck to get in another resort at 7-months window. I would love to stay at vwl, bwv, basically every dvc resort although I have stayed in ssr.

We not only would, we did and haven't regretted it once. Before we were members we said "If they ever built at WL, then we'd buy." Well, they did and we did, expecting to love it. However, after one stay there we were so disatisfied, we even Emailed DVC member satisfaction and received "The call"-"so sorry, etc., etc." However, on the last night of that first stay we added an extra night and could "only" get OKW. DH loved it there and announced that this was the place for him. So we came home and sold our VWL points to buy OKW. Did we have to for the 11 month window? No, but every year when we pay those dues to the resort where we stay and love, we've never regretted it.

We are very happy where we currently own and would not sell our current contracts right now. Although, we have 2 small children who will get older and who knows what DVC will do in the future with new resorts. So, under the right circumstances we would have no problem selling and buying somewhere else.
