To date, I'm fairly certain all the other perks still apply. If all you want to do is stay at DVC resorts, resale is the way to go.
HOWEVER....... I don't believe we've seen the last of the restrictions. Disney had A REASON for Dinging the points. If the current level of Ding allowed them to achieve their REASON, all is good. If not, they'll continue increasing the Ding Level until The REASON is achieved.
Wether or not all current resale owners will be grandfathered ??? ...... your guess is as good as mine, but they did not Ding the points of resale owners who bought prior to the Ding Date.

Restrictions on Resale Buyers –

Hi there,
I'm considering buying via resale, and I know there are restrictions on how you can use resale points. This doesn't phase me so much, as we intend to stay only in DVC resorts with our points. However, I'm curious -- do you still get other perks, such as annual pass or dining discounts, if you've bought your points via resale? Are there any other "cons" that you can think of?
Thanks!

As Viking stated, to date there is not a different membership card to indicate resale buyers are different from direct purchase members. So any perks, including the AP discount, free parking at parks while staying at a Disney Resort are included. In the past Disney has shown precedence that changes would affect future purchases and memberships. So we can always hope that IF Disney Vacation Development decides to make classes of membership you'll be covered. However, here's a paragraph they have added to the Home Resort Rules and Regs that shows they are covering all bases.
2. Club Member Benefit Programs From time to time, Disney Vacation Development, Inc. Buena Vista Trading Company, DVC Operator or their affiliates may establish special Club Member benefit programs to enhance membership for Club Members. Participation in any Club Member benefit program is completely voluntary. These special programs are not a component of any Ownership Interest or Additional Ownership Interest. Some or all Club Member benefit programs may be limited, modified, canceled or terminated at any time. In addition, some or all of Club Member benefit programs may be offered solely with respect to Ownership nterest purchased and owned by Club Members who purchased the Ownership Interest directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. and certain of these special programs, including those benefits marketed as Incidental Benefits under Section 721.075, Florida Statutes, may not be hypothecated, bought, sold, exchanged, rented or otherwise transferred, except upon written approval of Disney Vacation Development, Inc., and are solely for the original Club Member’s benefit and not for the benefit of that Club Member’s assigns or successors-in-interest. If a Club Member sells his/her Ownership Interest, these benefit programs do not automatically transfer to his/her buyer. The availability of these benefit programs may or may not be renewed or extended to such assigns or successors-in interest.--Denise

I see no cons to buying resale. The cash you save from the initial purchase can go towards any of the stuff that you can't get. Besides, there are no guarantees that anything that direct buyers get today will still be available for anytime in the future. The only reason to buy DVC is to stay there. Everything else can and does change.

Possible "Dings" could include staying ONLY where you purchase or you only get window less than 7 months to book at another resort.
As I said early, RIGHT NOW I would buy resale because my points will only be used for DVC stays. Start Dinging when & where I can stay and it's a whole new ballgame.

Seriously thinking about buying resale with the idea that i don't have to trade in or out to stay. What would be a pain is if my home resort thru resale was restricted to the 7-month reservation window.
