    DVCNews Debates: Balcony views

To some members, the view from a room's balcony is a make-or-break aspect of the trip. *To others the view is completely irrelevant. *

Some members happily pay higher nightly points for a specific view--others gladly pay fewer points with no concern over the specific view. **

    None at all.
I do not go to Disney for the view off my balcony. I go to enjoy family time.

Now saying that I spent more points for a specific view; once at Jambo House and once at Boardwalk. If I did not get the view that I spent more points on then I would of been upset.

Depends on where we stay. Savannah view while staying at AKV is important while views at SSR are not as important. We haven't stayed at BLT yet but I assume that views are important to some people there.

For us we will use the extra points anytime we can at AKL for savannah views and BWV for the boardwalk views. We do enjoy the balconies and the views anywhere we stay but especially at those two places. It also depends on the vacation we take, wether it is one where we will be hitting the parks more or if it is just DW and I and will spend more time at a slower relaxed pace where we sit on the balconies animal and/or people watching BLT doesn't do it for us, but the park balcony views there were nice when we stayed as well and I can understand why people spend the points for those.

Like other's, it depends on the trip. The last trip for the marathon, we had a standard view at AKL and that was fine because we weren't in the room that much. Our upcoming trip we wanted a theme park view at BLT so we paid for it.

My big thing is that if you pay the points for a room view, you should get it. One time I had a "lake view" at BLT and the only way you could view the lake was if you stuck your head out over the balcony and turned your head another 90 degrees. I complained about this because it was NOT a lake view and was more of a parking lot view. Now maybe if we were up on a higher floor this same room would have been better, but it wasn't on the 4th floor.

The only time we have specified a view was to appease a family member, who then didn't even go on the balcony (but that's another story, ). Since we mostly stay at VWL, there isn't a premium view, so that isn't a problem. Generally we are more concerned with a specific area or building rather than a view. IMHO, Disney still does a great job of providing locations to go to view the "good things" at places like BLT and AKV.

Having said all of that, it might matter at Aulani, HHI, or Vero Beach but we haven't had a chance to go to those places yet.

Though I don't want to pay alot extra for the view I enjoy sitting on the balcony first thing in the morning and taking in the atmosphere. Very Relaxing.

Depends where we stay....At AKLV, we want Savanna view, but in Oct, we stayed concierge level and didnt get a Savanna view, we got a pool view and it was ok, we still had plenty of time to see the animals,...It was only for a few nights, longer, I'd rather have Savanna.

BWV, I've never gotten or even requested Boardwalk view....I think we've always gotten garden view and it's fine.

SSR, I love to see on the balcony, but thats really for the peace and quiet, not so much the view.

I got engaged at WDW 1/24/10

As many of you know I just about always have stayed at BWV. While I enjoy looking at the Boardwalk views there,I find the balconies too noisy/busy. Plus I always feel like I am on view for those on the boardwalk, even when I am on a high floor. So I avoid BW views, and I feel pretty much the same about pool views at BWV. I like the standard rooms way in the back where just about no one passes by. I find them very peaceful, and a nice respite from all the action in the parks and on the boardwalk.

Depends on our lenth of stay and the resort. Old Keywest & Saratoga First Floor facing a pond or the golf course. Beach Club & Boardwalk Top floor facing the pool. But a balcony is nice early in the day or late night.
