I was reading the Denver Post and ran across this article regarding Merida from Disney's Brave movie. In preparation for her coronation, Disney updated their Princess website adding a new redesigned Merida (along the lines of the updates they've been doing on the other Disney Princesses).

<a href="http://dvcnews.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=5214&d=1368975541" title="Name: 20130516__story_3f6dbf4e-b35b-4aac-ba32-8b3b36389d63~p1.jpg
Here's the article, stating Disney removed the image after the author complained. http://www.denverpost.com/entertainm...source=pophome

I think this redesign of the princesses is making them glamorous and sexy. Why? What kind of role models are they trying to be? I was always disappointed that Rapunzel was redesigned to look like the other princesses instead of the relaxed outgoing girl she was in the movie, Tangled. I'm glad someone stopped them with Merida.

Disney even does it to Minnie. This look for Minnie is part of their D Trend designs and ads.

I've noticed that Minnie's clothes are changing and giving her a slimmer look with modern clothes even in the parks.

Why so they can sell more clothes to the D Trend generation? I'm baffled that Disney would first of all reshape with Minnie. And secondly what sort of example are they portraying to our children? You're only pretty if skinny? I can't believe we are continuing this myth that only skinny people are happy.

I guess I'm just blowing off some steam. But thet shouldn't be changing Minnie's shape--she is a mouse for crying out loud, not a human. And if Walt drew her rounded what's wrong with letting Minnie have a pear shape?

No one can deny that a WDW vacation is expensive. Everything from food to hotel/resort to plush is cheaper outside the bubble. However, Disney can get away with these prices by including Value or Bang for the Buck with this price. By Value I mean the intangibles that no one thinks of when they simply look at the bill. Things like VERY clean parks & resorts, impeccable landscaping, groomed sand beaches, CM's in costume. Even something as simple as parking at one of the theme parks is as simple as following the bread crumbs.

But there are times when you look at the bill for something and just shake your head and say "never again".

This trip I am armed with AP Discounts, DVC Discounts, TiWL Discounts & Disney Credit Card Discounts. I just fan them out & say "Pick one". We went to Teppan Edo a couple nights ago; 4 adults & 2 kids 4 & 2 yrs old. Meal included 4 adults entrees, one child meal, one appy & a $20.00 bottle of Plum Wine. The bill with tax & tip was over $200.00. No discounts accepted. Food was mostly ok, Rodd & I tried the Swordfish steaks & they were very dry. Pretty much I can duplicate the meal on my grill for a third of the price. I think I heard the phrase "for an additional price..." at least 10 times.

So where was my Value. It definitely wasn't in the food. Years ago, Teppanyaki (sp) - as it was known then - included a miso soup, ginger salad & red bean ice cream with the price of the entree. Now.... nothing. The room we dined in was extremely bland, almost sterile. They also pack four grills/tables into each room. Very tight fit, very noisey. To get to our table in the left rear corner, we had to squeeze past guests eating at the table in the front left corner. Poor design & layout, but it did allow them to maximize the space, add more grills. No Value there. The chef was efficient, cooked very fast, made the obligatory onion ring volcano, then the Mickey head & tossed the sprimp tails into a pan & one into his hat. Yawn. Lastly, we were ushered out quickly as the next group of victims needed our table.

All in all, we enjoyed sitting around the table with other guests & the two grandsons thought the "shoe" was funny, but other than that we wasted about $75.00.

Bottom line: VERY poor value, we won't be back. I'll buy turkey legs instead.
