We decided to take one extra Disney Trip this September since DS is still free to fly and get in to the parks. Since this will be our third disney trip this year we wanted to keep it basic and inexpensive. We were gonna stay at pop and had it all booked.
I know there is absolutely nothing wrong with Pop Century but after staying at BLT and Aulani I know it just wouldn't be the same. (Biggest concern was double bed. Too small for someone who is 6'6".) DVC has completely spoiled us:D.
ive known abt renting points but never thought I would do it. Well now I wish I had thought of that earlier. I tried out David's rentals and for only 450$ more we could stay in a studio at OKW. I filled out the form and within a couple hours we had a reservation!! I was amazed out how easy and quick it was and it was actually abt $1000 cheaper than booking thru disney for the same room even with the current 30% discount!!
my only complaint is that I wished I had thought abt this sooner. I would have loved to stay at BWV but that would be impossible at short notice but am pretty excited abt OKW.
The resort looks awesome but my only concern is distance from Olivia's. I always get up and go pick up breakfast while DW gets ready. At BLT it was easy as we just made it in the suite or walked over to Contempo grill. If we get put in a suite far away I won't be able to do this. I think this redesign of the princesses is making them glamorous and sexy. Why? What kind of role models are they trying to be? I was always disappointed that Rapunzel was redesigned to look like the other princesses instead of the relaxed outgoing girl she was in the movie, Tangled. I'm glad someone stopped them with Merida.

Disney even does it to Minnie. This look for Minnie is part of their D Trend designs and ads.

I've noticed that Minnie's clothes are changing and giving her a slimmer look with modern clothes even in the parks.



Why so they can sell more clothes to the D Trend generation? I'm baffled that Disney would first of all reshape with Minnie. And secondly what sort of example are they portraying to our children? You're only pretty if skinny? I can't believe we are continuing this myth that only skinny people are happy.

I guess I'm just blowing off some steam. But thet shouldn't be changing Minnie's shape--she is a mouse for crying out loud, not a human. And if Walt drew her rounded what's wrong with letting Minnie have a pear shape?

we're thinking (a dangerous pastime I know) that instead of multiple trips to the mouse next year, we do one big one in early June and just go someplace else at the holidays and/or spring break. Vacation times during the school year are non-negotiable since Mr Mac is a teacher.

So, since DD, 3.5 yo LOVES animals and is starting to really dig sea turtles (mommy showing her VB turtle cams may have helped), we were considering a split stay with somedays at VB on the back end of the June 2014 trip. She'll be 4.5 yo then, DS will be 3.

What are the 1 bd views like - is it worth splurging for a GV? Are the Beach cottages actually on the beach? Is DS just too young? I have ZERO qualms about DD, she's been an animal nut since her first stay at AKL and listens well and really enjoys learning about animals AND has been begging for a beach vaca for several months (why daddy agrees to a sunny beach vaca when she asks but says "Normandy!" To me is just not fair)...but DS is my lil wild man. He loves animals but not to the degree that his sister ever has (tho he is far more tolerant of bloodhound drool and pug goo than she).

currently only have ~300 pts remaining for 2014, but would likely plan to rent points for VB anyway just for 11 mo window. Saturday morning we arrived in Savannah Ga. for four great nights. Really enjoyed Savannah, we will return.

Millie & I spent four nights on International Drive at our Vistana Villages resort. Weather wasn't the best, but we still had fun.

Our son and his family arrived Vistana on May 4th, had fun on the pirate ship at Vistana & moved into VWL on the 5th.

Kids left today, May 17th, to head back to Boston. That's the first bummer as we only see our grand sons a couple times a year. Tomorrow when we get up, we won't be greeted with " There's mom mom & pop pop".

Worse yet, most likely we are heading home most likely to bury Millie's mother. She was diagnosed about two years ago with Stage Four cancer in many areas. Millie has spent a lot of time with her mom the last couple months and she told Millie to go and enjoy her vacation. She has declined rapidly the last couple days & family has called and said "get home".

Tomorrow morning we will head home, drive straight thru and I'll drop Millie off at her mom's sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Not the way we planned on ending our first trip in 18 months, but we know mom will spend eternity in Heaven and will be pain free.

View: left view-Back of building, forward view-back of south tower, right view (when on balcony)-pool and lake. This is classified a lake view, but don't waste your points! It's only a lake view if you are standing on balcony all the way to left, otherwise it's a building view. We regret using lake view points. You cannot see the water parade at night either.
Other Comments: Ice is two floors up, and walkway to contemporary is two floors down. Mid way to elevator. If you want refills in drink mug, or morning coffee, be prepared to make the trip down elevators, across sky-bridge, and through the contemporary. The only time we have encountered so many rude (and mean) CMs, in all our 40+ stays at WDW. This was even confirmed by another CM at anonymous resort.

This trip we have been thru MANY shops looking for Tigger stuff. Other than a little bit of Plush and a Christmas ornament or two, Pooh brand products have simply disappeared.

It wasn't that long ago that Pooh merchandise was second only to The Fab Five.

At one time there was a long running legal suit between Disney and the two families that own Pooh, but AFAIK they settled that fued in 2009 - 2010.

Even at the UK pavillion in EPCOT, there is almost no Pooh ( but Tigger & Pooh are still doing meet-n-greets there).

We asked several cast members and while they agree with us, they have no answer.

On another note, we tried to buy the official 2013 WDW Christmas ornament. It's sold out. Has been since March. No idea when it will be restocked. Are you kidding? The Marketears should be stroking out over this.

Shortly after that factory collapsed in Bangladesh killing several hundred people, Disney announced they were shutting down operations in five countries with similar safety track records. The affect of this move may create inventory issues in the future, but not now.
