I recently joined the DVC and am wanting to show it off. :mickey: I was looking at the excellent article on available DVC merchandise at WDW on this website. I couldn't help but notice what many others have already stated, namely, there seems to be a lack of quality DVC-specific merchandise. I am looking for a bag or backpack with the DVC logo on it. Does anyone who has been to WDW recently know if they have one? I think the tote I received with my paperwork very nice, but I'm afraid it will get dirty easily if I use it on a daily basis.

I go approximately every 3 months and haven't seen a DVC bag or tote in a while. However my experience is limited to BWV and BCV, I haven't checked at the other DVC resorts. (Believe it or not the stock does vary from resort to resort). For a while they had those "string" backpacks, but I haven't seen them my last couple trips at BWV or BCV.

I am sure you thought of this already, but Ebay may be your best bet. Good luck! :)

I appreciate your help. I looked on ebay. They had the canvas totes given to new members (which I have) and a very cheap looking drawstring "backpack." I was looking for something more sturdy.

Those canvas totes are great, although bigger than I need for most things. I use it for groceries to avoid using plastic too often.

Agreed, the drawstring packs aren't very well made. That's what I was referring to when I mentioned the string backpacks in my first post.

It's really a shame how little DVC merch is out there. They are missing out on a huge market imo.

Yes, I agree. I looked at BWV and SSR for DVC things and they had very expensive polo shirts! We did go to the Welcom Home Wednesday and we all received khaki colored bucket hats that folded into itself so you can hook it onto your belt loop. It said Animal Kingdom Villas on it. Worked out great since it started to rain when we left the building.

How sad is this--Adventures by Disney has an online store selling merchandise, when DVC merch is so pitiful!

I sent an email to MS stating that if they had more merch available, and maybe even available online on the website, they would probably find plenty of people willing to buy. I got a reply stating DVC merch is available by calling the 800# for park merchandise. I think they missed the point.

I agree, MS seems to miss the point on this a lot. My home is Boardwalk but they have almost nothing that is resort specific for Boardwalk.

The displays of DVC merchandise at both Wilderness Lodge and Beach Club were terrible this year. It was a single side of a display at each location, with just a handful of items. I wanted to get a polo shirt, but there were none to be found.

The vast majority of the DVC merch I have was purchased on EBay, due to unavailability at WDW. :(

We have learned the hard way about Disney merchandise not being around during your next trip. On our honeymoon in 2005 we purchased two Boardwalk pint glasses. When we went back Jan 1st 2007, no more glasses. Go over to Animal Kingdom Lodge and they have them, but not at my Boardwalk. When we went on our first DVC trip in May, we were very disappointed in the DVC merchandise. They only had two DVC exclusive collector pins. :confused24: It sure would be nice to have a better assortment of DVC items. Maybe it's part of keeping the "best kept secret" a secret!:rotfl2:

Ohmygosh! I've been looking on the disboards for ideas of things to have in the room to surprise my cousins (Shhh!), and one of the posters had used Memories by Betsy. I checked out the website, and the baskets look totally amazing. I don't know all the prices, but they look much better than what is offered through Disney Florist. PLUS, she has resort specific baskets from even the DVC resorts and a DVC specific basket (with pretty much everything from the slim selection as shown on dvcnews.com). Here is the website: http://www.memoriesbybetsy.com/Memories_by_Betsy/Welcome.html

I think I might call for some prices! I was hoping to have a cake in the room at the GF when we come back Sunday evening from the parks, but it looks like the prices have just about doubled.

That seems really cool. I could do all of the kids a basket for our family trip in December!

Thanks for the link MM.

What I see on the prices is $25 for the basket plus the cost of what ever is the shelf price of what is in there. That includes delivery. Any additional baskets are $10 plus cost of "stuffings". So I guess it depends on what you would like in there.

One of the posters from disboards who has used this service before said she even shipped some of her own things to this Betsy that she bought at her home Disney Store during a sale and that Betsy really tried to help out on the cost--like buying cheaper items at Target and stuff. I don't know if I'll use it this trip--I think I'm going to have to come up with my own. But it's something good to know for the future!
