Ok, not strictly DVC related, but......

Has anyone here visited Kenedy Space Centre?
DH and DD(17) really want to visit. Have contacted Travel Agents here in the UK, and they want us to state what day we want to visit (not sure yet, too early to decide). Also apparently there are two ticket options; basic admission and one which includes tours etc.

I guess what I want to know is:
1) What ticket do you recommend?
2) Can I not just turn up at the Space Centre on the day and purchase tickets at the door? Prices I have been quoted here are £30 for basic admission and £52 for 'maximum access' (about $42 and $73)

Thanks for your help!!:)

Wow, I haven't gone to Kennedy Space Center for a while and I have to admit that I was surprised by the prices you are quoting. I know here in Houston, we have discount coupons to tour the Johnson Space Center so I would expect there are coupons in Florida, probably at the tourist information centers if not on counters at gas stations.

Here's the link for the Kennedy Space Center ticketing:

$43 is the general admission price and then there are separate guided tours you can book for $21 to $54 per person. I would think a guide tour would be worth it because there are parts of the Center you can only see on a tour. I would definitely think for the entrance and most of the tours you could buy the tickets the day you get there. But for the limited tours or dine with an astronaut you'd have to do that in advance. If it's like the meet an astronaut here in Houston, the astronauts are not available everyday.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along soon to answer your questions.

I was there last year and I just did the basic admission for myself and my nephew. We both really enjoyed it. On a previous visit, I did one of the special tours. The one that I did took us out closer to the shuttle launch pads which was neat since there was a shuttle on the pad. It also took us near the Vehicle assembly building and to some of the stands where VIPs can watch launches from. That was also a neat tour.

For the special tour, I booked it in advance. For the trip with my nephew, I bought our tickets in advance but I think that they could be used any time.
