I am beyond excited. I'm planning for a 2013 cruise and I just live a few hours from Galveston. Oh but wait, I was going to wrap a few days at WDW after the cruise. Now I need to start planning which way to go now. No airfare is a plus for us. mmm Don't know. And I really wasn't planning on cruising for 6 or 7 days that's a lot of pts. 4 day sea and 3 days land is what I was planning. Oh well may DS and DDIL can't go. Enough pt for me, DH and DGS. :goodvibes:

I am sooo excited!!! We want to do the Alaska cruise, but the price of airfare to and from Canada makes it not possible for this year. Reading that next year we can take off from Seattle instead will pretty make a 2012 Alaska cruise a for sure deal for us.

Wow, a Disney cruise out of Galveston, oh my. That's just over an hour from my house. And here we were excited that Princess cruises are coming back to Galveston in 2012.
I know that the MS website says you can book 24 months out for DCL with points. But whether DCL is accepting the reservations could be another story. It looks like a phone call to MS might be the way to go to find. We already have plans sketched out for 2012. Shucks.
The 5-Night Canadian cruises out of NY would be an intriguing option for us...but not in 2012. We already have a 3-night cruise booked on the Dream and I wouldn't even consider 2 cruises in 6 months.
Maybe if they do something like that in 2014. Kinda stinks that DCL only announces these itineraries a year in advance, though. Having to manage our points requires long term planning.

I called today. Was told the information wasn't available until 8a tomorrow. I have a meeting at 8:15a. I may be just a bit late to that meeting. I looked at the dates for 2012 on the WDW website. All 6 or 8 days from Galveston and they start in Oct -Dec. Asked DS if I could take grandson out of school for a week. No reply yet. I'm sure he has to check with Dracula's babysister (daughter n law) For those of u that have cruised Disney b4 are there a lot of adults without children? I think I would have more fun if my grandson was with me. Now that I think about it I haven't been on too many trips without him since he was born. We even took him to Vegas when he was 2 and 3 yrs old. I'm geeked that all I have to do is make the 2 hour drive to the Coast. I can pack all I want. No transportation issues to the Port. :cheerleader: I'm Goofy happy right now!!

Yes, both adults with no children and adults with older teens/young adults were on the cruise that I went on.
My husband and I will cruise alone most of the time.

That's very cool for folks in TX. Guess all those rumors of Disney "coming to Texas" finally paid off, huh? :rotfl2: Just isn't a theme park.
As for 8am tomorrow, heads-up that booking a cruise through DVC can be time consuming. DVC has to coordinate with DCL and last I heard, it was pretty much a manual process. During busy periods like the Member Cruises, it can take 30-45 minutes to complete the booking once you actually get a rep on the phone. If both DVC and DCL are swamped Friday morning, you could be in for extended on-hold time and then however long it takes to actually book.
Hard telling how busy they will be but I'd make sure you have at least a couple hours to sit there with the phone on hold.
Good luck!

Oh my, I may have to cancel that meeting. Not enough advance notice though. What to do? What to do? Do you think they will book at really quick? I should be back in my office by 9a. Thanks all for your advice. Doesn't look like DH is going afterall. Mutal agreement. Sometimes too much togetherness is not a good thing. I'm fine with seperate vacations. Actually we can seperate 4ever. :p May be just me and grandson.

Booked my cruise this morning about 10a. 118 pt per person. I locked my office door and told my staff I had a conference call and not to distrub me. Still a lot of availability. Dec 15th 2012 6 nights Western Caribbean. I'm geeked. So tell me what will the weather be like at the ports in Dec? Guess I should have checked that out 1st huh? Sept and Oct was available but I was hoping to see Xmas decorations, etc if I go in Dec. When I get excited I get a little stupid at times. Didn't book Grandbaby. The Beast of Burden daughter n law of mines said he can't miss a week of school. The nerve of her. :covermouth: That's ok, I removed them as authorized users on my Amex. :rotfl2: Just wait until she tries to go shopping. By the way I didn't tell her. I guess you all see now why I'm the Evil Queen. I'm feeling empowered today.

Congratulations on booking your Galveston embarkation DCL cruise. I heard the ports temps are great it's just leaving Galveston and the first couple of days at sea that are cool to cold depending on the temperature in December is at Galveston. It's just to remind you that it's not summer in Texas kind of weather. A covered pool would be nice for those two days but it doesn't look like DCL does covered pools.

I have no doubt you will have a great time and so will everyone at your table, because as you know, you are the life of the party. I smile every time I read your posts. Hope you have a great cruise. And you know we love to read TR's here on the DVC News, hint, hint. ;)

How far in advance can we book a cruise using points from our use year?
How far in advance can we book a cruise using points from our use year?
As long as the point charts are out, you should be able to book. There is no 7/11 month restriction. Points used would be from the Use Year of the cruise departure date. You can bank and/or borrow if necessary.
