A basic little article. I wonder if follow up articles will be written.

I would image it happens but I would think fires during construction are not common place. I can't help but wonder in what phase this part of the of building is located? What caused the fire? And will the fire cause any delays in opening the resort or one of the phases? It must not have been too bad if they were able to put the fire out 24 minutes after the call was made to the fire department. But smoke and water damage always delays the entire process.

LOL you're right Mike! Someone must have angered the Tiki Goddess and she got not only the Tiki Room but another Hawaiian-related Disney building. Hmmm I hope the Poly isn't next! :scared07:

Don't worry, I hear the sprinklers there had a really great designer! :thumbsup2: (or at least I hope so since people sleep there and that leads to higher risk IMHO...)

Things like these two events are reinforcing my small add-on @ VGC rather than AVH! :silly:

$20,000 in damage... 24 minute fire call.... put out with fire extinguishers! :confused24: This was a NOTHING fire! I'd have had that much hub-bub if I had a small grease fire in my kitchen and it destroyed the stove, hood, a cabinet and the kitchen ceiling. Seriously, that's nothing that the responsible sub-contractor isn't fixing THIS WEEK (or Disney will kick his butt). These kinds of things happen all the time at construction sites... especially where they are metal work or electrical. One stray spark from a grinder or one bad circuit breaker and you have a small fire like this. Let's just hope that got it out of the Hawaiians' system and we can all rest easy now! A little excitement to get the safety guys on their toes.

Agreed that the damage was nothing and glad to hear it! Hopefully the rooms in the area we're furnished yet to help minimize smoke damage; I hate rooms that smell like smoke and have been spoiled by so many things being non-smoking anymore! :thumbsup2:

Oh Jeez... did Greg Brady drop his tiki necklace on the 12th floor? We all know those Hawaiin gods don't like their homeland messed with!;)

Speaking of Tiki necklaces, what about the problems Candice had in that one Phineas and Ferb episode?
