I love Pirate Night on the cruise. However, I usually just throw on the bandana they give us and say "arrgh" a few times. I have never really taken part in the magic.

This time, my partner and I bought full pirate costumes: pants, boots, shirt, 3 belts, bandana, waist coat, over coat, hat, guns, swords. I even want rum bottles to put on my belt.

I figured the Cast Members would love it and I could get some great pictures with the Cruise Director in his/her costume.

I will be using these on the Dream in February and the transatlantic Magic in May. Then I always have it for Halloween and the Reneassance Faire back at home.

Did I go over the top? Will I look like an idiot and waste money for the cruise?

I took a look back over my cruise videos and saw only like 1 family dressed up in the past.

I wish DCL would promote this event more and encourage guests to dress up. It seems like only seasoned DCL cruisers know what they are in store for that night.

I think what you're doing is terrific! To me there is no such thing as "over the top" when it comes to Disney fun. I am sure you'll get lots of attention and kudos from guests as well as CMs. Can't wait to see the pictures, your description sounds awesome.:pirate:

If you enjoy the idea of dressing up pirates night, why not take advantage of it? Others may not dress as pirates but that's their loss. I think it would be getting into the spirit of things.

Looking forward to any photos and trip report you'd be willing to share from your cruise. Have a great time.

We just returned from a 7 day on the Magic, and there were a lot of people dressed to the hilt as pirates and many others with just the bandana's. On the last cruise we went all out, but because of not being able to pack everything in our luggage this time we did not. Seems like more people were dresses up than not. Just do it & enjoy yourself, you probably will never see any of the other people ever again anyway.
