I have never traveled outside of the Disney Collection. I am considering a one-week exchange to Cancun at the Sol Melia Vacation Club at Grand Meilia Cancus.
The resort website shows regular hotel rooms, suites, and royal service suites. No floor plans are available. I do not know how to go about determining what I am going to get. All I know is every picture is gorgeous and the resort's hotel room portion has very high ratings from Apple Vacations. Some pictures show a modern furniture design and others a more elegant interior. I think that the modern units are part of the general hotel, and the classic units are in the vacation club wing.
Has anyone done a 1 week exchange to anywhere and what is the DVC/RCI exchange experience like? How hard is it to confirm a stay? Where have you traveled with RCI? What can I expect as far as confirming and knowing what my accommodations will be?
I am also considering a weekend getaway to Michigan using RCI's nightly exchange as well.
